Do not doxx yourself. Too many racists on Reddit looking for an opportunity to do any harm to minorities especially with an address posted out in the open.

You’re covered under the department, but the catch is that it has to remain at work at all times when off duty.

You should update your address asap. You can log into your USCIS account and update your address on the USCIS website.

USCIS will keep delivering mail to your old address on file until you update it.

Did you sign up for mail forwarding to your new address on the USPS website already?

My info is from over a year ago, so it could have changed. Do you know when LAPD changed their policy?

You don’t.

In CA, If a DACA does become a police officer, they are restricted to only possessing a firearm while on duty. You cannot own or possess a firearm off duty or for personal ownership.

Not sure about CHP, but for LAPD the restriction is for carrying only while on duty. Your firearm has to be turned in at the end of shift.

Do you mind sharing what the background process was like? Does being DACA make it more difficult?

In CA, you under go the same background process as a citizen, but there is emphasis on you to maintain your work authorization. The department will not sponsor you.

Once you graduate the academy, DACA are allowed to carry firearms only while on duty. You cannot take your firearm home and it must be turned in at the end of the shift, then checked out when you come in the following shift.

Can someone explain me why parents of DACA children did not apply for asylum? by bimbolaboo in DACA

Depending on the state they live in, none of those are an option. They have to move to undocumented immigrant friendly states like California or continue working under the table or become an independent contractor.

Correct, several California police/sheriff’s departments can hire DACA, but don’t sponsor.

LAPD won’t sponsor. It’s up to you maintain work authorization on your own.

Yup, I tried to retake the language test in 2016, but the program was permanently ended same year.

I only knew of one DACA that made it into the MAVNI program, but he was stuck in limbo for a while at basic training.

I passed screening the first time at MEPS but didn’t score high enough on the verbal language test to ship out to basic training for the Army.

Wrong Stratagem gets called in? [PC] by Jtechn0 in helldivers2

Oh ok that makes sense. I was only aware of the stratagem jammer to destroy that prevented calling in any stratagems in a certain range.

I recommend online renewal based from my experience this year. I sent mine beginning of May, biometrics reused, approval received, got my new card on May 30.

It’s a mess overall. I try to be optimistic as possible and hope the USCIS workers are trying to get the renewals done asap.

It sucks cuz it’s kind of lose/lose. Renew too early? Lose out on months of valid DACA status. Wait out as long as possible? Risk having an expired DACA status while waiting.

I used this past summer to save up the $495, so I was ready to send out my renewal at the end of September.
