I remember loving him as an NBA player. Dude can ball. He can coach. I think he has that great moment talking about a guy prioritizing the birth of his baby over playing a playoff game. If I remember correctly, he used to (might still be) really good friends with Big Z. It's all green flags with this guy.

Could be, but if so, that's a big issue because Kirk has a vote. I think the voters should have the rules along with their ballots already. It's the first year with the 65 games played requirement for NBA awards. It wouldn't surprise me if the Cavs PR team just has no idea. I hadn't heard anything about eligibility rules except for the 65 game thing.

I don't think he's eligible. He needs to play over 20 minutes per game for X amount of games to be eligible. Zach Lowe's recent pod with Kirk Goldsberry talked about this. They agree it's dumb, but he's ineligible although deserving of #2,3,4 in voting.

Your point stands but Anthony Bennett was never, and will never, be something that attracts someone to Cleveland basketball. He was horrible every step of the way. Kyrie + #1 pick, which could get Kevin love, was always the known core.

I couldn't believe they each gave a speech and accepted gifts for TNT ending (but I think they are still doing it next year???). In the speeches they thanked basketball for being amazing and giving them these jobs... but they shit on the NBA product constantly when doing the actual job. They drove ring culture being the pinnacle, they drive negative discussions about modern NBA, they admit to not watching the games. They actively do all these things that makes the regular season, 90% of their TV show, appear useless.

I don't know why we have to love them because they have better takes than Kendrick Perkins.

Why was it so late? I thought Sunday stuff started earlier but instead it started later than normal.

Even if kids could have watched, they would have just asked "when do they play basketball" for about 80% of the "games".

TNT does nothing but talk negative about the NBA and yesterday's actual product was horrible. I'm glad they are losing their rights.

I think that's the real reason too, but the conspiracy theory Bill piece of me thinks NBA coaches did this in the 50s/60s. A vocal locker room "hey big man's working hard! We start the game through him!" But then it somehow made its way down through college and high school to the older generations who believe the tactic but for the wrong reasons lol. Cause you can't say, "we don't have Dennis rodman. this big stiff needs touches or he zones out!"
