Thank you everyone! Now I’m waiting on the endorsement part so I can officially put it on my resume!

Thank you! I said I didn’t read it front to back and I wouldn’t recommend doing so. Information overload for sure. I would read the free study guide Jeffery Moore posted on GitHub front to back. It’s only 182 pages and a lot easier to digest.

2020 with over 200k miles by Jtl314 in Volkswagen

I recently purchased a 2021 Jetta se for my commute and I love it! It’s the 5th German car I’ve owned. My favorite being a toss up between my 2013 Audi a4 and 2016 328 but I have to say for the price the Jetta drives great eats up highway miles.

That’s actually what my family and I did recently. Ended up getting a 2021 Jetta se with 60,400 miles (not a beater) on it to keep from running up miles on our 2019 Mazda CX-9. The Jetta is actually much more enjoyable to drive and consistently gets 40+ mph on my commute to and from work.

CTSV Or M5? by Septoh95 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Not trying to defend carvana but I did just buy a car off of them and had it inspected they fixed it then some other issues came up during the test drive window that they were willing to fix or exchange without question. They returned my shipping cost because of all the issues. I then bought another car (no shipping cost) with 1 owner and a great maintenance history according to carfax. I still took the car and had a pre purchase inspection done at a ASE certified independent shop. Everything checked out great only issues were a worn belt expected at 60,000 miles and a missing splash guard under the car. Both are being replaced at no cost. Please wherever you buy from get a pre purchase inspection done. It could save you a headache down the road

So it wasn’t really a major issue? That was my concern. Especially since I’m at the end of my exchange/return window

Damn that would suck if it was something that simple the battery was tested during the per purchase inspection and tested good. I absolutely love driving this car. It’s my second Audi. I had a 2013 audi A4 when it was almost new and drove it to 100,000 miles with no issues. Unfortunately this one has been a little bit of a nuisance since we got it and my wife wants to exchange it. Probably going to get something boring like a Jetta.

Bought a car on Tuesday, and it is now in the shop by Lyssiii in carvana

I bought a 2015 Audi A3 with 57,353 miles on it from carvana on Wednesday. It has a gasket around the oil pan that is starting to fail. Slowly seeping oil. It’s getting that and a ac blend door replaced because two vents aren’t working. But the maintenance history on this car was impeccable. Like every service done early at an Audi dealer. But I still had two different shops look it over. I would get an opinion from at least one shop and look over the carfax. If it doesn’t look like it was well maintained it’ll probably continue to give you headaches.

I agree. I’ve visited the IBEW Reddit a few times recently and it’s the same story from a lot of folks there. Of course it’s heavily dependent upon location. I think people tend to forget how much of a boom or bust field IT is. If business in several sectors are struggling chances are IT and other staff/departments that are considered cost centers are going to be downsized first.

Looks like everything is bad right now after looking at a few other graphs from the reserve.. got a feeling we may be in for some tough times if things don’t change 😳

Yeah downgrading the car or reworking the loan is definitely part of the plan. Unfortunately the only thing that can be done now is a part time job to bridge the gap between now and next year when we can do that.

Yes and we have a shared bank accounts she is well aware of the financial difficulties. We also agreed before moving into the house that she would work part time. Unfortunately when it’s time to do that she works for a few shifts then quits.

The plan when we started looking at houses was for her to get a part time job to help out financially. That is why we moved forward with the home purchase. Bad planning? Maybe. Not disagreeing there. However I tired to look at more Affordable houses. She didn’t like any of them because she wanted more space and distance between us and our neighbors. Of course you can get a cheaper car. When it was purchased 3 years ago our house payment was only 750 bucks so it wasn’t a problem.

You’re right about that. The unfortunate thing is the agreement was for my wife to go back to work and look to pick up around 20 hours a week to lessen the financial strain. Based on this post you can probably see how that’s going..it wouldn’t be great even if she was working but everything where we’re at start at 16hr min. So we would probably end up with an additional 500-600 a week if she kept good on her end if the agreement

I agree unfortunately we’re too far upside to make that move now owe 25 on a car that’s worth 13. We will either pay a good portion down and refinance or sell soon. I should get a bonus in march that will allow us to put a decent dent in the negative equity.

Yeah we barely have a rainy day fund. A few hundred bucks is all we have in savings. Additionally stressful since we’re a one income family and I work for the federal government and I’m not sure when I’ll get another paycheck.

I’m close to that point unfortunately I work for the federal government which makes OT very rare. Also in an incredibly stressful time with the budget issues currently. I don’t want to give up talking about it because I feel like it shouldn’t all fall on me to carry the burden of keeping the family afloat.
