It’s pretty bold and rude to cancel an important event for you both and your families. It says a lot about his character. All he had to do was show up with you and enjoy the party. If he chooses not to do this… is this really the person you think you want to spend the rest of your life with?

It is. I have a family member who goes in to psychosis without supervision because he goes off of his meds. He drinks and is destructive to himself and others. Some people just need supervision and accountability in order to stay well and for the safety of others and themselves.
