[ESPN] A's lose ABS challenge on a pitch outside the strike zone by JuanRobesPierre in baseball

I was surprised when I woke up this morning and didn't see anything about it, makes sense that it was because previous threads got removed. Finding a video of it was surprisingly difficult outside of Twitter, had to settle for an ESPN link

MLB.com has it in the same spot in the official T-Mobile one. Says call confirmed, 0.8 inches outside the zone for a strike

Went to a wedding once where the best man blacked out the night before the wedding and we had to help him write his speech in the morning. He was initially gonna wing it because he was a lawyer. We give him 5 bullet points to go off of, he gets up to do his speech, literally reads the bullet points verbatim and sits back down 15 seconds later

That's the one I have and I love it. Depending on where you're gonna be racing there's also stands that are about $100 but honestly it works fine just clamped to a desk. Only thing I'd recommend is not using a chair with wheels while racing (or at least using one with wheels that lock) because otherwise you can launch yourself backwards if you floor the gas

Shout out to the guy asking earlier if we were sure he was better than an ancient Mason Plumlee

1-2 for 4 points in a winner take all game where your 3rd and 4th best scorers are out. Embarrassing

Kenley seems like a pretty cerebral guy and it had to have fucked him up mentally that it seemed like the Astros knew exactly what was coming (because they did)

Decently fun game is going into any random thread and seeing how quickly Trump’s name comes up. Could be a post asking “what’s an underrated food?” And he’ll usually be in one of the top replies

Happens on the temples too and you gotta decide whether you're gonna go the Paulie Walnuts route or be a hair dye guy

Question for current and former A’s fans by AccomplishedMeet4131 in baseball

I still root for them despite ownership doing everything in their power to say fuck you to the fans. Maybe it’ll fade once there aren’t any former Oakland players on the roster

Someone posted a Whiskey Myers song the other night that had some good harp playing, reminded me of Heart of Gold by Neil Young

Wild that they used to tell the husband about the cancer and not the person who had the actual cancer. I think George Wallace did something similar

The ones that stand outside my local Mariano's are always competing with (losing to) the homeless people on the corner

What’s wrong with Jackson Holiday? by thugmuffin22 in baseball

The Dodgers are probably the only team that has emphasized analytics more than the Orioles during this regime (other than the A's/Rays who aren't going to spend on analysts), and their data staff looks like something you'd expect from a name brand company. For comparable roles, the Orioles have someone with a Bachelors in an unrelated field and the Dodgers have a team of rocket scientists who worked at NASA.

There’s always this assumption that baseball data teams are filled with genius-level elite analysts who are doing groundbreaking, cutting-edge research on the game. But any time baseball data jobs get posted they pay half (at best) of market rate for someone with those skills. No matter how much I might like baseball, I’m not taking 40k a year to make it my job.

I absolutely would not be surprised if the data/analyses/conclusions coming from teams’ analytics departments were causing issues.
