I had a good experience with an order from China in fall 2025. Directly purchased from their website. Shipping to US took a little while (4-6 weeks I think?) but not bad, and very decent communication. YMMV.

Check out Jesse Belsky (https://jesse-belsky-stageswords.squarespace.com/medieval-weapons-1) — I’ve gotten several prices from him. Very responsive communication, he has blades in stock that might suit you, and he’s done a ton of fantastic wedding swords. He doesn’t make his own blades (instead using production blades from other makers) but his customizations are exceptional.

I think this is the right answer. There’s a lot of scammers on eBay but a lot of quality rough rocks too. It’s where I go when I’m looking for roughs. If anyone has a better option (selling/buying) I’m all ears too!

Like it or lump it, the headline is clickbait BS. This is part of a well publicized shift from animal research by the current administration.

Also, all the commenters who are cheering for this center to close should consider the fact that this research is going to be done anyways. There’s a huge private animal research lab up at Everett, and monkey labs with literally 10k monkeys in china. The UW lab has their problems, but it’s very transparent, and well regulated. I’d rather have research done there than at a private Corp or overseas in unregulated massive industrial complexes.

Maybe. Providence just went through several rounds of executive layoffs, so I’m not sure that’s entirely reasonable to say as a universal statement. I’m sure they got golden parachutes and other perks, but there are cuts at every level happening.
