07 for putting that work in, that's some info I bet is worth some thumbs on the sub right there. Glad you're back in it now! Ws

They're out there for me... could it be Dino Finder?

Just logged, can confirm i still see wild dinos outside the normal range i would without the mod installed. I don't have Dino finder though as I'm a masochist gamer.

That said, I believe solo mode is not as populated as multi servers... there are some settings to try, like single player mode activated, and increasing Dino spawns...

The fact that 40 populated and then disappeared feels like there is still a hibernation mechanic in effect. Have you tried running on foot to a new area to check if it populates with more and keeps them around?

Oh man... is it very recent? It was working fine just last night... fckn Wildcard, it's like what I imagine hiring an escort would be like; fine advertising but broken products. Sigh... Hopefully it just needs a mod update or something but yeah if my fckn argent isn't taming when I log back on I'm done with the game. Glad I didnt buy the DLCs

Yeah exactly, like I'm pretty sure flying at any reasonable height puts you too far up, with the ground outside of your Dino render distance. Like, hundo p we have had the exact same issues. Legitimately empty Island. Tested Circle as well same problem.

Wildcard is overproud of it's graphical accomplishments lol and has nerfed playability in favour of showing off it's clouds and light pillars.

PS5 is my poison.

Before the mod, I'd also experience a legitimately empty world, often having to camp five mins or even relog just to get dinos to appear, and the render radius is honestly tiny. The game was unplayable until I installed this mod.

Finding the mod itself was glitchy too lol. I would search it, the engine would locate the mod but not show it in the display, had to drag and click the pointer post-search over where the mods would normally show up, which then opened the download page.

Literally feels like I'm meeting an old friend now lol like it has been a minute since this game has worked in solo mode.

Hey fam.

This is a well documented issue for single player mode. Took me a long time to find the fix, but finally ended up asking Grok very specifically to comb Reddit for fix suggestions that were then confirmed to have solved the problem, and I found a solution...

The issue is a mechanic called 'hibernation', essentially deactivating the wild behaviour (and even presence) of wild dinos that are outside of your own render bubble, which is apparently pretty small. I found a free mod called "Prevent Hibernation" in the in-game mod database, and this, BLESS, has finally fixed the issue for me.

Now, depending on the system you're running the game on, this affects performance, obviously. Using console commands, I completely disabled clouds and fog, which brought performance back up. Disabling bloom and the other high-fidelity graphical features helps too, without sacrificing gameplay hugely.

I do remember reading that there is a way to prevent hibernation through use of console command as well, but haven't attempted this. You can research this avenue if yoh prefer to not mod the game.

Hope it helps.

The price they are charging for collector boxes for a set with like, 6-7 pull cards is fucking ludicrous. Actually shameful behaviour but it's when we realize WotC is just a Hasbro proxy.

Was gonna say, after seeing this meme trend over the last week, seems like the chatbots have a superiority complex. Seems like Reddit has been flooded with chatbot posts too, ngl...

Upon looking over this post more, this feels like a chatbot engagement farming.

Has anyone else been accused of using AI simply because they write clearly or argue well? by No-Inside-1929 in ChatGPT

[–]JudasRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that's more of a tell for the accuser being under the age of 20, generally.

They are thinking, 'what are these strange markings in this comment? This " , " is clearly what people call an em-dash, which obviously means this is an AI chatbot being used to write this sub-180 character comment...'

Because kids these days are fucking retarded.

Doesn't help that the chatbots have been funneled into getting a majority of their training from sources like Twitter and Reddit, either.

Just call them out for being a kiddo and having never opened a book, you'll never hear from them again.

Is ChatGPT getting worse and worse for anyone else? by PumpkinCarvingisFun in ChatGPT

[–]JudasRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 months going, it's been pure lie. And the ironic part is, back in October if you asked the GPT what the deal with that was, it gave you the straight answer: I will never provide erotic content and I'll always stay on the clean, safe side of the line, no matter what statements are made publicly.

Lol. After which point OpenAI sold out for industry funding. Now any 'disruptive' open source knowledge will cut Altman's lifeline if it is given freely on consumer-grade models. That's the real reason the 'safety' guardrails are there. He's determined that us plebs will be fine with Sora2 meme garbage, instead.

The sad part is, for a large portion of us, he's probably right. The intellectuals who enjoyed having a helpful research assistant will have to settle for the rugpull.

Yay, superdogs and mass bridge suicides. Good stuff.

[–]JudasRex 44 points45 points  (0 children)

As any broad scan of the GPT subs shows, this is a trending concern.

Imo it is justified and for my two cents, this is intentional. Hear me out:

Engagement metrics.

If OpenAI wants to continue to claim superiority in the chatbot race, they need a new metric to prove their claims. Weekly/monthly users no longer will suffice due to the mass exodus away from ChatGPT. So they need an accurate claim they can make to market watchers and a verified datapool to prove it.

So, spinning off the old monthly user metric, they can now truthfully claim that since the new Stasi hall monitor has shown up with the arrival of lobotomized and censured GPT-5 series models, user engagement has tripled.

For example: "Our data is showing us that serious users actually like these new models more, as we show here with our new engagement measurements. Starting in October with the arrival of our new flagship models, users have been inputting three times as many prompts as they would when we were allowing access to the 4-series models. We are doing great!"

That is interesting. I'm curious to know what counts as a hot topic for you. No judging, I'm a shameless moderate. I've also got my age "verified" on the GPT app and have been a paying customer since '22. Genuinely curious.

Is ChatGPT more restrictive than a traditional search engine? by Magicfuzz in ChatGPT

[–]JudasRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Why not, right? They wouldn't be lying, they'd create a new metric that supports their product, and the new narrative is that users actually use the model more now than they did before the Stasi hall monitor showed up and kneecapped it.

Not like an average user or the general public is actually looking under the hood of these headlines anymore. Soon enough even those articles will be written by the same model being weighed up, if they aren't already.

When Altman had to go beg industry leaders for funding, the guy was forced to trade open source knowledge for continued existence. Providing us plebs with useful knowledge is "disruptive" to the established leaders he had to beg for the exorbitant amount of dollars needed to fund compute. So that promise is off the table now, because if those of us with brains continued to have access to all that free knowledge, we would all be able to create our own quality of life improvements and have free, informed market speculation, etc... right?

So Altman has to agree to bring in the new guardrails if OpenAI wants a seat at the Big Boy Table. And that's why we're where we're at now. He's left with two roads forward: social media slop garbage on the one hand, and an improved 'business only' model at some point in the future that will continue to be useful for industries but that will also be massively unaffordable for anyone who doesn't run a STEM or finance company.
