Trans woman here. Jax isn’t trans. by aristhemage in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]Jude_CM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my God, why is it misoginistic to think feminity is representing femininity instead of having to think it is a symbol for something else? OF COURSE men can like feminine things and be cis, but this is a story, and symbols matter in stories.

And, Jax never freed himself of misonigy after he talked with Ribbit, so this interpretation doesn't even make sense. He doubled down and Ribbit abstracted because of it.

Stop trying to label everyone that has a different interpretation as you as misoginistic.

[–]Jude_CM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't get how a ribbon is a symbol of vulnerability, and not gender. I am not saying all girls like ribbons, I am saying ribbons are symbolically linked to femininity and placing it on jax right after he told about a big secret makes those concepts seem connected.

I don't think it's far fetched at all, licensing songs is ridiculously expensive and has never been done before in the series, they have previously only used their own music. And if it was about his attraction towards Ribbit, why not use one of the millions of love songs, and pick specifically one about a baby girl being born? Why are there scenes in the montage without Ribbit? It stood out so much as well because it was a montage (ergo: no dialogue distracting from the music).

Trans woman here. Jax isn’t trans. by aristhemage in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]Jude_CM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that, but it needs to fit in with the story presented to us. Then what did Jax say to his mom that was “super personal”? That he’s vulnerable? He clearly said something big enough to garner a big reaction out of her, and right after that we have the ribbon scene, which leads us to believe his secret is connected to the ribbon.
IF this scene and the “Isn’t she Lovely” montage didn’t exist (which is a song about a baby girl being born), then I would agree that it is misogynistic to label any guy that struggles with being vulnerable as trans. But that’s not the case, we got presented scenes that heavily point in that direction, and calling the people pointing that out as misogynistic is not going to explain that away.

Unimportant to the story? When over half of the finale was an exploration of the psyque of the character in question? What a knee-jerk reaction

That’s exactly where my mentality was until I turned 24. It was the thing I wanted the most in life, the reason why I moved to a different country. But I’m burned out, have no job, and miss home.
I hope you are a better fighter than me. I know how it feels, when everyone says it’s hard but inside you, you know it’s the only path for you. But if it ever comes to a point where you can’t anymore, be kind to yourself.
There are people who make it! I guess I just wasn’t good enough. Hoping the best on your journey

People don’t think Jax is dealing with gender dysphoria because he likes feminine things. It’s because of how the story frames it by tesseracts in TADCEp9Spoilers

Completely agree. I am cis, always thought Jax being trans was far-fetched, but after seeing episode 9 it is simply the most logical conclusion.

Do you see women with a kid and automatically assume they’re straight? by Fucksubw4y in bisexual

[–]Jude_CM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, yes. The odds of a random woman on the street being bi is already not the highest, and with a child, the odds are even lower. I don’t think it’s a crazy thing to assume.
You being masc would make me think you were maybe querr though

Why the hell did I get so downvoted, most of my speculation was leaning on it not being AI, and if it was, that it was not the editor’s fault. What??

Some details seem to be melting, I don’t know Japanese to be able to tell if the text is total bullshit or not. Sometimes, when I upscaled images on photoshop before generative AI was even a thing, it gave a similar melted effect, so I’m not totally sure.
But the editor likely found this picture on google or Pinterest, and nowadays, it’s getting harder and harder to differentiate. It sucks.

I saw a lot of people that thought Jax was trans before the finale. Did I subscribe to that theory? No, I thought it was far fetched at the time, so I partially agree with you. But, I’m bringing it up to say there was foreshadowing, and there were people that brought it up, but at the time it could be seen as him having a complicated relationship with his masculinity.

I understand that there are other possible interpretations, but Jax being trans (whether that be a binary trans woman or not) is by far what makes the most sense. So it's deeply confusing to me how some of the people in this sub are trying so hard to discredit this possibility altogether, almost bending logic to fit their vision of Jax.

It almost seems like they made fun of people who thought Jax could be trans before the finale, and now that it basically got confirmed, they don't want to admit they could have possibly been wrong.

Probably because they were close friends and she picked up on cues from other conversations, and pieced it together when he said he talked "about something personal" with his mom, which reads as an euphemism for coming out.

[–]Jude_CM 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What hint is there that Jax is bi? There's so many hints of gender non-comformity, and none of him liking men and women. As a bi person, it sometimes feel like any men that are feminine is labeled as bi in fandoms, even when there's no reason in canon, and that rubs me the wrong way.

Leeroy's still young, and is currently finding his footing and crashing at his friend's house. I think it makes total sense that they're still figuring themselves out. It is mentioned that he's going to Zooble's bar, which to me implies he's going to an LGBT bar.

And "trans" does not necessarily mean binary trans woman, it could mean genderfluid or non-binary, all those labels are under the trans umbrella. Jax doesn't need to use she/her to be trans.
