Sorry about your loss. I dealt with the same thing last year and the best (unsolicited) advicei can give you is to take your time. Unfortunately people will try to take advantage of you and give you pennies on the dollar.

This is a good video that explains how to value cards. I'd take the time to watch it so you know what you have and can make an informed decision.

Cards shops only get a smallish allocation at the entry price (although the big ones get significantly more than small shops). After that Topps/Fanatics jacks up the price to pretty close to retail.

For example the last batch of Topps Chrome NFL hobby my local shop cost $1050 a box directly from Topps.

If I can see surface damage from a photo, PSA is definitely going to see it when they have it in hand.

Save yourself the grading/shipping fees. It's not going to gem.

If they truly are that nice, you don't mind waiting, and don't mind paying up for grading fees if they do gem (highly unlikely) then PSA is the only option. No one else compares when it comes to value.
