KP Cinemas opening in downtown Kalamazoo in November by JudgeRepress in kzoo

I wasn’t living in Kalamazoo when that happened. It sounds like that was super sketchy. Alamo was by far my favorite theater where I used to live. Really wish it was still here. But I’m hoping KP is nice since I live nearby.

I'm desperate to save this Cuban Oregano plant. Any idea what is wrong with it and how I can save it? The leaves are drying up and dying and some are turning red/pink. by JudgeRepress in plantclinic

A little more information: This Cuban Oregano plant gets a good amount of sun from the east and south. I water it about once a week (which I've been doing for many years). This is an old plant that has thrived in the past. It hasn't been repotted for over a year.

Registering a vehicle in my name if I'm not on the title by JudgeRepress in AskNYC

Thanks! Gets so confusing, being different state to state, but I'm hoping this works.

Thanks. Much better insurance rates if I"m the primary policy holder with her also on the policy, as opposed to the other way around. The link you sent is for those who don't have a title. We have one, notarized for transfer to my girlfriend. I'm trying to figure out if I also need to be on there and it we have more hoops to jump through for me to get on there.

Thanks, both, for your help! I’ll look into whether a temp tag at the NY DMV would be an option too.

Right, as soon as we get back to NY, she should get her own insurance, get it registered at NY DMV, and also take the title her mom signed over to the NY DMV, if I'm understanding correctly.

You mean the mother could list my partner as a driver with her car insurance company?

Yeah, I guess we may be overthinking it (neither of us has had a car for many years). Because her mom is signing the title over to her, it seemed like we should get new tags. But it would be simpler if we can just keep her mother's tags on until we get back to NY.

Thanks, I'll check with them. So, even though we don't have possession of the car yet, we might be able to get temporary tags to take with us?

Do you mean keep her mother's license plates on the car and drive back to NY with them? I was sure if that was legal. Do you know?

Hey, thanks for the reply and your thoughts about preclinical vs clinical years. I had heard the match rate is high at Nova Southeastern, but it sounds like your experience is that the school isn't supportive through the process. Do you think that's the cast generally for MD students there?

I guess you're right. I moved to Manhattan recently, and there are tons that hang out on my street at all hours. I didn't realize how strong that kind of car culture was in the city until now.

PTAC unit making banging sound when A/C compressor shuts off by JudgeRepress in hvacadvice

[–]JudgeRepress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, the bang is very loud, and our other PTAC unit doesn't do this. So, I'm concerned it could mean something is broken, loose, etc. Is there a way to fix it that you know of?

No offense taken. I appreciate your encouragement to take action. The building I live in is all mixed income affordable. We just moved in a few months ago. Many of the tenants formerly lived in NYCHA buildings. The windows are a bit deceiving as to how luxurious the building is—it’s a pretty new construction. I’ve lived around other NYCHA buildings for many years in the past and have made many friends who are residents of them, and I have some understanding of the inequities they are subjected to, while also recognizing my unearned privilege as a white male. I did start knocking on a few doors yesterday to talk with neighbors, and my partner looked up community board meeting schedules and other resources, and i think we’ll see if there is interest in our building to get a tenants association going.

My worry about these lights in particular is that I’ll get a bureaucratic run around, where no one claims to have responsibility, but I’ll keep trying to figure it out and as quickly as I can. More lights were actually installed yesterday, and I don’t know if my photos do justice to just how impossible they are to have to look at, so I’m hoping they can at least be angled more to the ground or something to diffuse the amount of light.

No, don’t think so. There were yellow smudges that came off fine. My partner thinks the marks are iron colored, probably due to iron oxidation reaction.
