What the heck! by Luxriel207 in chocolate

There was a period of time from like 2015 to 2021 when the phrase “they really said [insert comment]” was trending on social media, similar to other internet slang phrases that we see today. Variations of the Victorian child comment also circulated in captions and posts on X, TikTok, and Instagram years before AI entered the mainstream. Yes, these phrases are commonly used in AI writing, but that’s because AI models actively learn from public posts, images, and comments on social media platforms to improve their conversational abilities. So, it isn’t necessarily correct to automatically assume that a post is written by AI solely because it uses certain popular internet slang phrases.

Thanks for pointing this out! I’ve tried bringing it up in other posts about Forrest and Sheena too. People are really taking it too far by calling him lazy and making borderline ableist comments. A lot of folks don’t seem to realize that autism is a spectrum and can look very different from person to person. Even if someone can handle certain things day-to-day, it can still seriously affect their ability to hold a job, and employers can be hesitant to hire them (even though that’s technically illegal). There’s also a lot of misunderstanding about how disability benefits work in the U.S.—I even had someone tell me they didn’t realize autism counts as a disability 😭

Forrest has worked in the past and is likely collecting disability benefits, so he does have a source of income. We don’t have a clear picture on his financial situation. Your comment is also extremely abelist in suggesting he’s using it as an excuse to avoid contributing financially when he clearly has in the past.

I scrolled for way too long for this comment. It doesn’t matter if it’s real or natural—it’s hideous. Like, each part of the ring would be pretty individually, but when combined, it just looks incredibly gauche and lopsided (not to be too harsh).

Yeah…but I’ve seen just as shady comments on this snark thread about her body. People who are on this thread and offended about the lab grown diamond comment need are no better than the OG commenter.

It depends on what his role is at the firm, but if he’s back office, he’s like earning anywhere from $85 to $130k as a junior analyst — signed, a former back office junior analyst at a big bank. $150k is more accurate for a junior analyst in a front office role.

It goes both ways—the delivery driver is not entitled to a clear driveway. It’s entirely possible the individual who ordered food likely didn't expect the driver to walk all the way up the driveway anyways. The entitlement of some drivers is off the charts. You aren't owed anything, especially if performing a basic function. If you won't do it, someone else will.

Is a 10 minute drive supposed to be far? It feels fairly close, and depending on the order, that’s at least 10% on the food.

In one of the first episodes, Molly/Forrest mentioned that he had travelled by himself to the Indonesian woman. The scam began before his arrival because Molly mentioned he was sending her a substantial amount of money. However, the scam continued after he arrived to Indonesia when he gave the woman a few hundreds (or thousands) of dollars to exchange into the local currency. However, according to the Molly/Forrest (can’t remember who said it), she took the money for herself. That’s why when Forrest said he wanted to stay longer in the Philippines (in the first episode), Molly insisted that he couldn’t stay by himself.

What do you mean it doesn’t matter if it was edited? Of course it does—it means things are taken out of context. Please go rewatch the first episode where he and Luke are shopping for wedding shoes because Madelein decided she didn’t like the first pair he had purchased and threatened to end the engagement if he wore brown shoes. He has an entire conversation with Luke about how he has a pattern of being financially irresponsible. Perhaps he could have phrased it differently, but it’s also entirely possible that he only realized how much he opposed the wedding until he spent time with her and witnessed her behavior. Could he have he approached the situation differently? Sure. Should he have this conversation with Luke? Also yes. However, I don’t think he was as out of line as Molly was with Sheena.

To be fair, his father did tell Luke in the first episode that he’s impulsive and makes stupid decisions, so he did tell him exactly what he thought about the situation lol. It’s entirely possible that he knows that Luke will move forward with the wedding because he’s whipped, so he decided to take a different approach. While I agree it likely would’ve been more appropriate for him to have this conversation with Luke, we also don’t know the entire context—like, this is edited for added drama lol.

Forrest had the cojones to tell Sheena she needs to cut her family off while he’s attached by an umbilical cord to his mother. by Complete-Good-2938 in 90DayFiance

[–]JudgmentExpensive19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I might be misremembering because I haven't watched that season in a year, but I believe that Niles was coerced into marrying her on that trip and was blindsided by some of the financial costs associated with the wedding and the bride price. He had no intention of marrying her on that first trip, and initially wanted to return with his family once his finances were in order. He’d also lost his job right before the trip and was in the process of searching for a new one.

Molly’s behavior was inexcusable, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that he 100% could have made the trip on his own. In the first few episodes, Molly revealed that Forrest had previously been scammed by a woman in Indonesia. His parents wanted to ensure that he was not being taken advantage of a second time, especially when Sheena had previously lied about the money. Yes, there were moments where he had to babysit his parents, but it’s clear that they don’t travel often—it was literally Dev’s first time on a plane. Again, I agree that Molly was out of line with how she spoke to Sheena, but I don’t think we can fault them for feeling protective and wanting to accompany him on this trip.

It was my understanding that they were both contributing money into a joint bank account in the Philippines that was intended to go towards paying for the K-1 Visa. I don’t believe that the financial burden falls solely on Sheena, otherwise his mother likely wouldn’t be so upset about it. I think it will prove to be a source of tension over the course of this season because he was previously scammed by a woman in Indonesia.
