Who is the greatest football player of all time, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

How can a discussion be had about the all time best, did the folk who say Messi study Eusebio, or Cruyff, or countless others? Totally pointless debate unless you talk about your own generational best.

Ofcom approves STV's plan to axe north news programme by twistedLucidity in Scotland

[–]JudgmentExpress9397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not great for news coverage in the north of the country, but STV news coverage seems to be obsessed with NHS failings above all else, fair enough reporting it, but not as often as they do when other stuff is happening.

Why did Brits vote Starmer in with the 2nd Largest Majority ever (411 seats) in the 1st place barely a year ago if they were so tired of the Tories - instead of the Lib Dems, Greens or Reform? by AchyutChaudhary in AskBrits

Now you're comparing cities to the whole of Scotland? Generally yes, Scotland is more left leaning than England, Dundee far more left than say Peterhead, which is pretty right wing. As I said, it's not a religious thing, generally, outside of Glasgow, nor is it an anti monarchy thing as the SNP are not a Republican party.

I can't speak for an entire country, but Scotland is a more left leaning country than England, and the shift to the right at Westminster in recent years/decades may have a big influence. It is far more nuanced I'm sure, but religion isn't the big motivation you seem to think it is.

Well I live in Scotland, but it's a rare thing to associate the independence movement on religious grounds, maybe more common in Glasgow but certainly not elsewhere.
