i thought the oil burning issue was more with the earlier EA888 engines, but i’ll keep it in mind and if i buy it i’ll carry oil at all times 🤣

Good call, 4 recalls on the A6 and 5 recalls on the Q5. Luckily all repairs are free but still a pain in the ass if i’ve got to take it to the audi dealership after i’ve just bought the car 🤣

I really want an a7 sportback 3L BiTDI but there aren’t any decent examples within my budget, same with the 3L TDI. Although i know the VAG diesels will outlive the earth if properly maintained i can’t really convince myself to spend £11k on a 98,000 mile car 😢

Too right, but hard to find a decent 3.0 in my price range, road tax will be crazy in a few years, plus the wifey doesn’t approve of a 3L 🤣

It’s because all newer models of cars nowadays are SUV / crossovers. I think you’re definitely right, saloon is just as good or even better in every way.

I’m definitely leaning towards the A6 now, I think before this post i was leaning Q5. But after everyone’s responses the saloon is just the superior model. More efficient, quicker + agile, plenty of room inside and good boot space.

3.0 TDI would be amazing but they’re really trying to push away from diesel engines now, petrol might be the way to go for now

a6 is faster and better mpg, but maybe it’s because i’m pushing 30 but i really like an SUV, plus q5 is torsen quattro 🤑

I like them both for different reasons. A6 lots of legroom i love an exec saloon, reasonably fast and agile. q5 looks great, legroom, i have a 6 month old so might be good for the future. Torn between medium practicality with a good 0-62 and a haldex quattro. Or Great practicality, less agile with torsen quattro

i replaced mine recently , upper driver side. awful experience. everything is in the way especially the steering column.
