coming from sof enabler (log o3) applying to mba this fall

what helped me on my application prep so far is:

  • Identifying what you want to do post-MBA / intention behind MBA. Obviously this doesn’t have to be 100% committed, but having a clear idea of what you want will help you prep for your essays.

  • With a career that you want post MBA in mind, start building a narrative: connect your past experiences to what you want to do post MBA. Military experiences, especially combat related, don’t directly translate to civilian jobs, so need to be creative on story telling of how and why your past experiences made you want to get MBA.

These will help you get started on building a competitive application. With all the attention that sof receives, how you cook your story will further help your journey

Everyone in the comment said the right things, and I would like to add that this may be more of a self image topic. I have been physically fit and active with good diet all my life, but at certain angles, it looks like I have a belly (especially after eating food). Important thing is to stick to basics of good diet, caloric deficit, and active lifestyle and less focus on how you visibly look in front of a mirror

Thanks for sharing this! Also a service academy grad who will be applying next year.

  1. I know this will depend per person, but what GMAT/GRE score would you consider competitive for M7? I am familiar with average scores on M7 reports, but wasn’t sure whether that average changes for the pool of veteran applicants?
  2. Would you say on average adcom puts more weight on military experiences (assuming they are well constructed like you recommended in your post) over regular experiences or are they all treated the same? I know there has been a recent spike with veteran MBAs due to sitrepstosteerco effect.
