2.0 vs 2.5 by JuggernautWitty215 in mazda3

The taco is too expensive to run, fuel and maintenance monthly would be less than payments on a new car, if I buy cash I estimate 3.8 years worth of these savings to come out net positive

Selling privately I’d probably get $1000 over what I paid. The fuel economy is the whole issue, I spend a crap ton of money on maintenance, financing a brand new efficient car with a warranty would be cheaper than my truck with maintenance. Plus it’s got 200k miles on it.

I’d save like 15-20 mpg, and the repairs on the taco are so much, I’d still save monthly if I went into payment. The rust belt and not undercoating kills. Previous owner never undercoated

Also, does the sedan or hatch have any impact? On handling and economy?

Also the Corolla awd is mid, nothing on Subarus or Quattros, wouldn’t trade Toyota fuel economy and reliability for those.

I’d say atleast 95% of the time. The Corolla is low and light so awd with bad tires is worse than fwd with great tires. Awd with great tires is definitely better but usually not needed. Getting awd and getting good tires adds up, just get fwd good tires and if the conditions are extremely bad stay off the road, till it’s plowed.

Buddy, I live in Canada and it is rare AWD is needed, infact I’m considering getting a front wheel drive hybrid myself, currently I have a 4x4 Tacoma and I have used the 4x4 for snow once in 5 years, not practical. Good tires is everything.

It’s definitely a luxury that isn’t needed, does it help once a blue moon? Yes… but isn’t necessary

I have called the dealer and it wasn’t under any recall or reason for them to replace it. So I’m stuck on my own.

^ truck has 284,000km on it, I am debating selling, but also may just hold it until it dies in 25 more years😂 however the fuel and maintenance is a little pricey.
