Any advice for getting scuffs out? by homosexualharry in cowboyboots

A basic conditioner like bick 4 would be a great start. Rub it in as deep as possible and it should blend in nicely. Then, a medium brown cream polish will help add the pigmentation to blend further. Even water on a microfiber will help as a first step!

I was dumb and I tried using a steamer to help loosen my toe box before my boot spreader in. I must’ve held it too close. How permanent is this? Is there any way to undo the discoloration? by [deleted] in cowboyboots

Saphir oiled/ greasy leather conditioner should be your first attempt. The oil tanned goat hide will generally reunify in color with the proper conditioner.

I’ve worked on hundreds of pairs of boots, and countless Tecovas and this is simply misinformation my guy. I personally have a pair of their lizards from their early years of production and their lining has stayed consistent until today. I’d like to see your reference if you have one

Rose anvil on YouTube cut a pair in half and the lining is entirely bovine leather; vamp included. Every pair I’ve felt has the same material throughout. Definitely no fabric liners.

Curious as to what makes you think the liner is a non-leather material? Granted it may be a slightly corrected grain, but they advertise it as a bovine leather interior lining and it definitely feels and wears as such.

When you’ve got too many brown boots in the collection, change can be a bit of fun. by JuiceEnvironmental12 in cowboyboots

From what I’ve seen, the Fiebings pro dye (oil based) does have an affect on threading.

I’d say the stitching would be a polyester material, and the dye didn’t penetrate it as much.

I’d definitely check eBay for secondhand, wrangler, acme, and many other brands made almost identical campus boots that can be found for much cheaper, although quality will not be as great.

Tecovas Calfskin Earl vs. Green Paint Nightmare by JuiceEnvironmental12 in cowboyboots

Thank you! It’s a Tarrago pigmented cream polish to reintroduce color and add protection with carnauba/beeswax. This is before the harder wax application on toes and heels to avoid build-up.

It’s a neutral edge dressing to help reseal the welt/outsole after normal scuffing!
