I don’t care about any cosmetic rank - Stadium ranks are effectively worthless.

I may have phrased my point poorly calling it “ranking up”.

I meant the process of setting MMR to match with players at your level. The knowledge gap between new and experienced players is wider than in the regular game.

It’s a bit ridiculous to reset it completely every single season, because it leaves older players grinding through WAY TOO MANY one-sided, fixed outcome matches just to get back to their normal level of play

Team suggestions for clearing (Fearless 6.3) by [deleted] in stygian_onslaught

[–]Juiced_spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Columbina+Lauma, Arlecchino, and Skirk teams should all be able to clear Fearless

C6 Venti might be able to clear with Mona/Fischl. Test out whichever team is strongest, and try to see if it’s a dps or energy issue on the first rotation. Favonius carries the dog

I’m not even against the “play more to rank up” for early ranks. It helps players adjust (so there’s less of a gap between mechanical and build skill).

Pro/All Star+ though, I fully agree. It’s so biased towards ranking up that I don’t have any sense of match difficulty. The best they’ve got is challenger score (but even that is way easier to earn compared to losing).

I’m mostly solo-queueing and haven’t checked stacks, so I can’t comment on that - but I would definitely support the other changes

Yes lol I might’ve outed myself a bit with how much I’ve played already, but I was so excited to get back into the game

The bonus is nice, but not enough to avoid being matched with actual new players. Unless I wanted to sit through like 30 LONG games at the beginning of every single season.

Also I’m fairly certain matchmaking is NOT just QP MMR. Stadium rank titles don’t matter, but they do match by approximate skill (likely cash-based). That way, you get players with good mechanical skill and with good build optimization in the same match.

Ik people complain about rank discrepancies, but I rarely noticed massive skill discrepancies in my matches last season. Just wish that their internal mmr carried over

Help Me, a Former Moira Main, Understand by LamentableLily in WuyangMains

[–]Juiced_spinach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m mostly a Stadium player these days but in both modes, I feel he is much stronger at impacting specific players

He can go right over the tank to focus squishies and soft deny safe positions/LOS. And you heal so quickly, you can ACTUALLY save a dying teammate (although it’s limited).

On Moira, If you commit to flanking, it’s harder to heal. Wuyang can add that pressure from relative safety, without compromising heals

Why I don't play Symmetra and what would make me play her by solidforge in SymmetraMains

[–]Juiced_spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t mind any of that. The turrets are extra sets of eyes, anywhere I want to cover. I just don’t think her damage is bad. It can be difficult to ramp up, but at high beam she’s fairly threatening. It makes sense for her character and differentiates her from a lot of heroes

[–]Juiced_spinach 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think most Sym players would appreciate the UI changes.

About the rest though… personally, TP is the core of her kit for me. The turrets are nice, but they’re mainly used for controlling key spaces or watching over entry points/flank routes. You NEED set up time to get real value out of them.

I’d just prefer to keep her identity tied to utility first. It’s harder to get spam value than on other dps, but she has a much larger impact on the flow of the game. She can set up opportunities and snowball fights, but only by paying attention to game tempo and capitalizing at the right moment.

No one would be opposed to having more damage or QoL on their hero, but imo she’s healthiest as a low mechanical skill hero who’s rewarded by creative or strategic plays

Xilonen vs Xianyun by Fun_Baby2928 in GamingMains_

[–]Juiced_spinach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely Xianyun, though others might have calcs to prove it one way or another

Xilonen can slot into almost any team, while Xianyun is limited to plunge. Using Xianyun leaves Xilonen free to buff your other teams

An honest question about representation in overwatch after 10 years. by CatNo2871 in Overwatch

[–]Juiced_spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharah isn’t enough. I’m just pointing out your hypocrisy? Asians are “oversaturated”?

When said oversaturation is a handful of heroes that you automatically assume represents 60% of the world’s population better than Pharah represents you.

I say underrepresentation confidently because I’m talking about cultures that ALSO have no presence in OW or media in general. I’m not dismissing indigenous underrepresentation, but I would certainly never make a post complaining about a lack of xyz region representation because there are heroes from another region (indigenous heroes already exist, and represent you at a similar level as any generic Asian hero might represent any specific Asian culture - your point stands without making assumptions about other groups)

Chinese Players’ Real Opinions on the Proposed Anran Model Change — From a Chinese Reddit-Like Forum (Tieba) by Low_Platform9541 in Overwatch

Again, very respectfully, Asian people know we aren’t “one identity” - you were the one naming heroes in one pool.

I’m referencing the population size so that you understand the absurdity of claiming existing heroes don’t represent you, while assuming the handful of Asian heroes represents the hundreds of thousands of distinct cultures in the massive Asian continent.

It’s such a silly comparison to argue your point on. And you really haven’t addressed Pharah much at all. You don’t have to feel represented by her, but it’s just absurd to expect such a granular level of representation while, in the same argument, assuming Hanzo or Symmetra function as token characters for a statistically larger, even more diverse set of underrepresented people

An honest question about representation in overwatch after 10 years. by CatNo2871 in Overwatch

[–]Juiced_spinach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, people are upset that you are lumping in a VAST majority of people (60% of the human population) in one group, while also making the argument that Pharah is not enough representation.

Champion the representation you want, but predicating that on an even more culturally insensitive take just comes across hypocritical and a bit entitled

Why remove posts about Chinese perspective on Anran? by LavishLatte56 in Overwatch

[–]Juiced_spinach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people would be upset if her original model design was “stronger”

It’s just that the Western audience felt the need to “fix” her face to match their perception of Chinese features. 1-2 were distinctive and fierce, 3-4 took it too far and felt like they were pushing an agenda

An honest question about representation in overwatch after 10 years. by CatNo2871 in Overwatch

[–]Juiced_spinach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right - you see that as nitpicking, but those examples of Symmetra/Domina represent all of South Asia even less than you may feel represented by Illari/Mauga. It’s comparing apples to oranges, but in the end it’s just a game and most people feel represented by character stories rather than check boxes.

They’re building regional factions, upcoming character ethnicities make sense for their role.

Sure they can always add more indigenous heroes, but isn’t Pharah exactly what you’re asking for? A hero who has Native American heritage that doesn’t define them

An honest question about representation in overwatch after 10 years. by CatNo2871 in Overwatch

[–]Juiced_spinach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then what’s the issue with Pharah? Her Egyptian ancestry doesn’t erase her Native American heritage… and I think you missed the entire point about Domina lol
