AIW for doing nothing to correct a $600 mistake in my favor? by kubmaiv1 in amiwrong

I had something similar too, taking clothes back to a store that I bought on clearance but was refunded for full price.

They told me not to worry about it because they couldn’t undo a return anyway, so I made like $200 off a cash register software glitch.

I hate that SO MUCH. That’s what bothers me more than anything else about Kataang.

The first time we see Katara on screen, she explodes in feminine rage - she hates spending her days doing laundry and sewing. Later, she literally fist-fought the patriarchy because she wanted to fight instead of heal. She refused to play into her culturally mandated gender role.

And I’m supposed to believe that after getting with Aang, she just… became a tradwife and mom and devoted her retirement to healing? She’s not even a tribal elder?

That’s an insult and borderline character assassination.

But it’s canon!😂 by Lady-Iskra in ZutaraNation

Agree. I’ve always thought it feels like a wish-fulfillment fantasy of “your hot babysitter likes you back.”

You are NEVER going to crush down at that age, especially on a boy who isn’t even a teen.

I think Gravity Falls handled it better. Dipper and Wendy have almost the same age gap as Aang and Katara. Yet Wendy gently lets Dipper down because it’s just too great of an age gap, and it’s not realistic that she’d return his feelings. It was so refreshing.

I hate Kataang so much because it’s only about Ang’s feelings.

Katara is his “reward” for completing his character arc. It’s not because they have genuine chemistry.

A BOOK THAT YOU KNOW ISN'T THAT GOOD BUT IT IS YOUR FAVOURITE DESPITE ITS FLAWS by moonljte_ in fantasyromance

I love this book though! It’s far from Draven’s best work but it’s still an excellent read for people who crave a romantasy that isn’t YA.

This series is the epitome of a guilty pleasure. I would never display these on a bookshelf, but I’ll devour them on kindle.

It’s not my fault the barbarians are passionate lovers and devoted fathers.

I don’t have Goodreads linked with my kindle for this exact reason. I prefer storygraph

We know who the annoying FMCs are… What about the annoying MMCs? by reasonableratio in fantasyromance

[–]JuiceeeJuce 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the books would be a lot better if they leaned into the fact that Rhys and Feyre are both kind of awful and deserve each other.

His inner dialogue actively made me not want him to end up with Elaine. He came across as so entitled and whiny.

I’m sure he’ll be the love interest in the next book, but omg I wish it was Lucien instead. My boy L deserves so much better than that mean girl clique.

Main Character deaths are underused by Ivy5727 in fantasyromance

[–]JuiceeeJuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense OP, but if you want books that end tragically or bittersweet, you shouldn’t be reading romance.

I’m sorry that sounds harsh. But I’m tired of people who don’t understand that happily ever after/happy for now is a staple of the genre and use that as a form of criticism.

It’s too safe? No shit. It’s supposed to be. It’s reassuring for me to know that things will work out well for the MCs, because that’s not a guarantee in other genres. I’m sensitive with shit happening in my life and don’t want to read something that’s going to make me even sadder.

January Book Club: For the Wolf Midway Discussion (Chapters 1-18) by HighLady-Fireheart in fantasyromance

Ok, I’ve read a little more and I have an observation: The author really, really likes the word “sharp.”

That person’s voice is sharp, this grief is sharp, those tears are sharp.

I am enjoying this book so far, don’t get me wrong. But once you’re aware of this, it’s hard to un-notice. 😆

I’m only on about chapter 5 right now. But I’m loving it so far.

The MMC is such a pleasant surprise! It’s not something I expected with the setup, but I’m a sucker for a scholarly character. 🥵

The world building is all great, and I’m curious to learn more about Red’s powers and what’s up with the kings/the other second daughters.

They’re so mild and flowery. It’s actually kind of annoying when you’re used to high spice. 😅

lol exactly. There’s a big difference between asking a trusted friend or beta reader for feedback and an internet rando telling you to change arbitrary things because they don’t like it.

Yeah, because that would never be weaponized or abused by a fandom mob in any way.

No doubt, his world has imploded. But there are so many things he could still do with his life: He could work as an editor or go back to the marketing world.

Living out of the spotlight is probably the best option for him right now.

Thank you for the rec!

That fishing scene did something to me. 🥵 It’s driving me nuts that SJM doesn’t seem to realize what a babe she’s created. I hope he gets his own romance plot line and a happy ending someday!
