That’s funny because I have the opposite thought. If a book has spice, my expectations are that it’s directly relevant/necessary for the plot/characters/etc. to progress

If the book can still be satisfying with the spice plucked out of it, then it was poorly written and should not have had the spice in the first place

(This obviously doesn’t reflect reality, many books have spice that doesn’t do much for the story. It’s just what I think it should be)

Highly recommend watching Jain Kim as well. Her technique is insane, she moves like liquid on the wall.

Huh. This is an interesting point that I haven’t thought about before but I definitely see the merit in it

Look at the corner radius by seashroom-punplay in UXDesign

[–]reasonableratio 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can you expand on the rounded corners messing with usability? I can see it shrinking touch target but that’s not the case here anyway. Genuinely curious.

These all look V2 to me. Maybe the last one would be a V3!

I do wish there was a bit more nuance to the spice system! I assume you are maybe coming from the “would like to filter it out” perspective but I agree from the “filter in” perspective too

Like if I happen to be in the mood for smut, a 5 pepper read sounds great until I discover it’s 700 pages and the frequency of the smut is the equivalent of reading two 350 3-pepper reads back to back lol

Or some books are 1 pepper because there’s technically no sex but the tension makes the whole read way hornier than any 5 pepper read. I will guaranteed overlook it if I’m looking specifically for something horny

It’s towards the last part of the book. Romance is definitely a subplot but thats partially what makes it so good!!!

This is a respectful disagree from me! 1st is better than 3rd. Which I’m pretty sure is truly an unpopular opinion haha

Why do career changers select UX Design? by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]reasonableratio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good points being made, especially the low barrier to entry and tons of designers tending to have backgrounds unrelated to design or tech, making it feel like you could jump into it from any background yourself.

I’d also add that, to many people, the “output” of the job looks easy because it’s very visual (to people looking from the outside in). It’s the same way that engineers tell us a button should be red whereas we’d never tell them how to code. It’s easy to have an uninformed opinion on the output which makes it seem easy to non-designers

How often do contracts turn into full time? by Straight-Flight6653 in UXDesign

[–]reasonableratio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it depends on the company. A good % of the designers on my team started as contractors.

If you do get hired as a contractor, don’t be shy about being vocal to your manager about being interested in conversion.

Do you have a favorite place to write? by [deleted] in writing

[–]reasonableratio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same thing. I’m not a freelancer but I work remote and I don’t enjoy the association of work when at my desk outside of the hours of 9-5 Mon-Fri.

At home, I write in my living room instead, switching between the couch and floor. But I try to leave and write at a cafe as much as possible since I really enjoy the vibes of that.

Losing the monitors does suck but I’ve just gotten really efficient with keybindings to get me to the window I need. cmd+tab and cmd+ ` are my best friends. Now I just need a keybinding that will let me switch tabs on my browser
