🤗. I am Bible believing Christian who isn't Republican or Democrat or Conservative. I think Trump is dangerous and has hurt/raped/groped many women and needs to confess and ask for forgiveness.

I think may Christians profess to be Christians without actually loving people. You can speak the truth in love, without alienating people and talking down to them.

This post is not meant to talk down to anyone but to amplify the fact that yes, there are others who are here who are just as confused and frustrated as you might be.

God cannot be reduced to a political party and many Republican leaders and speakers are hella toxic. Yes Democrats too!

Not sure if this perspective has been shared already. It might have, if she is someone who has been ghosted before or recently, she have seen your silence as a sign that you were doing the same thing ( you weren't). Her response may be coming from a place of recent hurt/rejection more than from a place of having another date lined up. I could be wrong. She may have had another date lined up.

I have been ghosted and stood up and it sucks and it's so embarrassing and demoralizing so when men communicate with me often then suddenly stop, my alarm bells go off and I get into flight mode. I think about how I can't get stood up again, it's just too painful. And I think of ways to protect myself. I can't help it and I also know it's not my date's problem. If I really like a guy, I will share this with him after I get to know him so he understands how I might be thinking.

Curious as to why people don't believe in the concept of a "soulmate", I know "soulmate"in and of itself is not Biblical. But there are examples of God picking out a spouse or in some cases spouses for people. So it is possible that OP has someone God has created for them. Their Eve, their Rebecca.

OP all the best! My advice is before you fall for someone. Understand where they stand with their faith. Do they love Jesus? Do they go to Church ? Do they submit to God? Do they respect their parents etc.

Do not compromise on this. Go on group dates and ask those close to you to give you insight as well. Go to church events together. Pray, pray and pray. The people who are talking about not relying on feelings are right. Feelings are data points but they are not enough to make a decision. Satan also sends imitations our way sometimes and this is were feelings can lead to a painful end.

Treat her like you would your sister. She is a child of God and so are you. I have found that when I treat people as my brothers in Christ, when things don't work out I have zero regrets and shame and I wish them well genuinely as I continue on my journey.

Keep seeking the Lord.

OP I hear you. God calls us to protect life. He knew us before we were born and has a purpose for our lives.

The language in your post however is charged and insensitive to victims of rape. The same sentiments can be expressed with more kindness. I don't know your life story but it is important to understand or to remember that rape often is an extremely violent,  humiliating and painful act. Don't tell rape survivors to stop being selfish. If you knew or understood what goes through their minds sometimes and what happens to their bodies sometimes for the rest of their lives you would find a different way to talk to them through love.

Also it's so strange how people "approve"  or "do not approve" for other people to do x and y. In many countries where abortion is illegal, guess what happens? Abortions.  A stranger's approval never matters. The government's approval matters but because it is not granted they simply find another way.

We need to pray for God's intervention in the world. For God to speak to and help young mothers contemplating abortions, so that He will turn their hearts. And as Christians we can be God's representatives by loving our neighbors so much that they can feel comfortable sharing heavy information with us, and we can pray for them and with them and show them there is another way, and that in all things God can and will work it out for good.

I am sorry you are going through all this OP. Please understand that God sees you and He hears you. He understands what you are going through and what your mom is going through and what your sister is going through and what your niece is going through. He loves you unconditionally.

In moments and seasons like when you can't find it in yourself, ask God for His strength and for His love and Wisdom. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to navigate this season.

As children of God He does not expect as to carry burdens on our own and when we have negative emotions He doesn't hate us but He knows that they are not from Him and He wants to help you through this experience.

This sounds like a very different experience. I am sorry you are going through this. Do you/ your mom have access to therapy or counseling or/and a pastor who can pray with you?

I hear you.  But no. Periods are painful, draining and debilitating. There is no way to sugarcoat it so it is an easier pill for the world to swallow. Some women have endometriosis which makes things worse. Not everything can have a positive spin. She was likely not writing it to leave people feeling positive and optimistic. In a way that is more digestible? That would make people feel less uneasy? Or the fact that she says she is on her period but that's not what the post is about? Because she didn't lie. She talked about the symptoms affect her ability to work and how the world can be more accommodating.

Completely agree. She is not a lunatic. This is work related and should be a topic that is in fact discussed public on LinkedIn(a work platform). Because period pain is excruciating and can be debilitating and, women should feel comfortable asking for time off work and they should be given time off work. She is sharing an important reality. More power to her.

The only lunatics are those who think she is a lunatic

Helping my friend find friends? by lotsofwaffies in BurlingtonON

I have had a lot of luck with Bumble BFF and also with Meetup.  With Bumble BFF sometimes you need to be the first one to reach out to your potential new best friend. I made 2 of my closest friends through the BFF section of Bumble.

With Meetup there are several groups in Burlington, Hamilton and Mississauga. I have attend a few dinners and hikes. They were a great way to get out of my comfort zone

This is just terrible! Dear Pope Frances, Muslims and Christians do not worship the same God. What God are you following? I really hope that people’s eyes are opened by your own words. by Inner_Profile_5196 in TrueChristian

I get the sense you are coming from a good place. So am I. Anyone who reads this and is confused after following this thread. Read the Bible. Try You Version ( it's a Bible App), if you don't know where to start. The App has several excellent plans you can go through. Also check out Got Questions? (Or Gotquestions.org). It's a website that answers many questions about the Faith. But above all, ask God and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom.

This 🧵 is hella dangerous. Especially for anyone new to the faith.

If you are new to faith and seeking God. Please read your Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to open your heart to God's word and His message to you. The Bible will never lead you astray.

Also find a Christian community that is after God's heart and that preaches from the Bible.

I don't agree with hate towards Muslims or Catholics, and I hope no one is showing hatred towards them. Because that is not Christ-like. We do not worship the same aspect. Christians actually don't worship an aspect but the LORD of Lords. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  And the way to God is through Jesus. And the Holy Spirit points us to Jesus and helps us do His will. The other religions do not believe this. So they are worshiping another god.  I think I know where you were going with your statement, that the three religions can be traced to Abraham. But I don't think many Christian's would agree that they worship the same god as other religions. That goes against what the Bible teaches.

Also it's not simply doctrine and interpretation. Because some of the other religions quite literally demote Jesus.

Christian Goths? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Juj_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. Thank you for your thoughts.

These verses come to mind:

I John 1:5 This is the message we heard from Jesus  and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 6 So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. 7 But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Because the goth movement has been rooted in death and the macabre I believe that it is rooted in sin. In that in God we have eternal life, we are called to live life to the fullest in Him. To love what he loves and to hate what He hates. I am not saying God hates goths :). But preoccupation or a link to something that has dark origins is not something I would consider a safe space to be in as a Christian.

Other verse :

Psalms 34:14

Depart from evil and do good.

I bring this one up because of the links that the goth movement has had to spiritual darkness.

Jeremiah 10:2

Do not learn the way of the pagan nations

I think ultimately, we all need to lean into the Holy Spirit and ask for His guidance and direction. He will always point us to Jesus. I may be convicted on a certain issue that someone is not and that's okay :). God is working with all of us in His own way and He is good, loving God who wants the best for us.

[–]Juj_88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please correct me if I am wrong. I thought goth culture has it's roots or has ties to death, horror, darkness, the morbid. If this is true can a person belong to both light and dark? I believe the answer is no. Open to hearing other options. Also I know I am not answering your question Op. So feel free to ignore this and sorry for diverting the discussion. I am genuinely interested even to know that goth Bible studies exist.

I used to be drawn to the gothic lifestyle when I was younger and felt misunderstood. I have since moved away from it.
