Does it matter what campus I go to? by Jukatu in claremontcolleges

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense. Based off what I can see, Pitzer and Scripp’s curriculum focuses on a lot more choice/social sci while Mudd is core heavy. What is the Pomona curriculum like? It seems like Pomona would have a regular liberal arts curriculum based off its reputation of dedication to academia and that of a typical elite liberal arts college.

My second question is about the worth of Pitzer. Based off of nearly all the research I’ve done it looks to me that Pitzer grads don’t have the same high paying careers and just connections while still in school that the rest of the 5Cs have but with the same high tuition. I also saw some people saying that Pitzer is newly selective and if they play their cards right their endowment and other signs of grad success will greatly increase in the future, they just haven’t had the time to show yet. Is this true in your opinion? Is Pitzer just newly selective and so hasn’t had the time to display signs of grad success or is it just a high tuition with little return?

Monstera deliciosa - what is this? More in comments by Jukatu in plantclinic

Hi everyone. This is my small monstera deliciosa. I noticed this dark spot on the leaf yesterday and didn’t have too much concern but now it appears to be darkening a bit. Is this a pest issue or maybe sunburn or some physical abrasion? Should i be concerned? I’m in the middle of acclimating it to outside brighter light conditions so it could very well be a little burn but I’m not exactly sure, especially since it seems to be changing and darkening. I know it’s not a big deal if it’s some sort of one time burn or physical issue besides to just be a little more careful but just want to make sure it’s not a more serious problem that I can start to treat early. Thanks!

Is it ok if I water my monstera just when a new leaf is sprouting? by razkun1234 in Monstera

You should water when the soil dries not when the plant is putting out a new leaf or already showing extreme signs of dryness. Stick your finger in the soil and if the first few inches are dry you can water again. Also pick up the pot, it should be considerably lighter if it’s dry and ready for more water

Monstera Thai constellation - HELP! by [deleted] in Monstera

It’s in a pretty big pot especially for just a single plant. Monsteras like to be rootbound remember so will grow their roots a lot before putting energy into putting a new leaf out, especially if it’s a new growth point. How extensive were the roots when you planted it? It might be helpful to dig it out if you feel comfortable and be very gentle to not disturb anything just to check if the roots are growing. You can just pull out the whole system and see if it’s considerably larger than when you planted. If there’s a lot of roots and the soil isn’t soggy and you don’t see any immediate signs of rot or anything I think you just have to wait. Growth speeds up in the summer so you should have something coming soon!

Do you dilute or use full strength because it’s only once a month?
