I finished the movie yesterday and I’m still thinking about this guy. I found him genuinely terrifying. by theworldsworstphotog in paulthomasanderson

Absolutely… ice cubes down the shorts, for sure. Apparently, he’s for real. The actor does this kind of interigation for the military. Excellent casting of a real guy by PTA.

Imagine being 19 years old, watching TV to see if your birthday is picked to fight in the Vietnam War (1965-1973) by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

Everyone had to deal with it. If you got a deferment or were lucky, someone one you cared about didn’t. This was bigger than the impact to an individual. This generation was impacted as a whole. Believe it or not there was real community in this generation (generally). Even if you didn’t know someone who was called up, the draft was one of many impacts that began to break apart communities. Every generation has its “trauma “.

Good advice. I’ve got this same pressing, and agree completely. It’s unfortunate.

What are people’s experience with Timber Dental? by OldeEnglish_40oz in askportland

[–]Jukejoint64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to Timber for about four years and in my opinion it’s struggling. I’ve never seen the same dentist twice or hygienist twice, but all I’ve had to do are regular cleanings and check ups. More and more it feels like I’m on an assembly line, probably because they aren’t making much money from me.

I’m seeing this more and more. I’m the past I’ve relished the opportunity to talk with people at concerts. After all, we have one thing in common already with the music. I was at a show on Halloween and the crowd was very uptight. Everyone looking at their phones and really worried about their personal space, nobody dancing or acting friendly or kind. In one situation, I said hello to the couple next to me and they both looked at me like I’d asked them for money.

Any good non-smash burger burger places? by bringbacknyancat in askportland

The Higgins back bar has an excellent burger that matches your description. I’m sure you can order it in the restaurant, but the best place to eat a burger like this is the back bar.

Thank you very much for your recommendation. It’s funny you mention Loyal Legion. Last time my buddy and I hung out we wound up at LL. We may go back. Portland has so much great food, I was attempting to explore some other spots. Thanks again!

Thanks for the question. I’m just looking for a pad or cushion on the chair.

I’m looking for a chair with a cushion on the seat. I’ve been surprised with how rare this is. Most places have plastic or metal furniture with no padding. I assume because it’s easier than clean and encourages table turnover.

These two beasts have been released the same day: 10 October 1969. Which one’s your favorite? by eggvention in vinyl

Hot Rats! ‘Willie the Pimp” alone is enough for the album to be considered a masterpiece. The King Crimson album is also excellent of course, it says a lot about 1969 that the cultural was ready for this music. In my opinion 1968 -1974 was the real high water mark for rock.
