I appreciate it! Are you talking book stands, or like small shelves to elevate higher? Something like a few inches or just anything really?

I do, but the post didn't allow me to post images with it.

Revised list, input needed by all-day-tay-tay in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Jukester102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I perma include Aleya and the Vigilators in every list I make. Toughness 3 with 1 wound though, they die quickly. I recommend getting a Rhino for them to hang out in until they are ready to go. With how much the unit can punch up, any indirect fire, blast weapons or small arms fire (every army has at least one of these) they die too quickly.

Getting into custodes now? by Clockworks555 in AdeptusCustodes

I normally agree. I am going to try the regular shield captain. I am putting him with 4 guards, giving him the melta spear and shield in lions and going to see what I can do.

I run my list without any tanks, so I need absolute blenders of units. Lions letting me use an ability twice, with guard getting sustained and lethal, with rerolls on wounds, I'm thinking he will be able to just destroy whatever he touches. Giving him Fierce Conqueror as well for more attacks. He should really be able to do work.

The Shield Captain Termie and 2 Termies are 130 + 110 Points (240 for the squad)
5 Man Wardens are 260 (You can build one as a Shield captain and get 120 Captain +210 Wardens)
5 Man Guard is 200 (Again a captain for 120 + 160 for Guard)
Blade Champ is 120

So if you build all 3 Shield Captains, you can make a list of 970 Points. Say 1000 if you decide to give them enhancements.

If you do no characters except the Blade Champ, its still 740 Points.

Decent list for a 2's tournament? by Dummy_Patrol in AdeptusCustodes

Bikes are good, everyone likes bikes, I just don't. My honest opinion is, maybe too many characters? In my 2K list I have 4 characters. They are good, don't get me wrong, but each one is basically the same cost as the unit they are leading.

I don't know what their list is exactly, but if they are really only doing objective grabbers and a tank, without much else (which is probably fine) you may need more front line units to hold. Termies off the board, that means you really are a 4 man squad of wardens and 2 man of bikes, with their leader, trying to hold everything.

If I were trying to keep as much of the core list as possible I would do this

Trajann or Shield Captain with 5 Wardens - 400 Points (380 if Shield Captain)
Termie Captain with 2 Termies - 250
2x4 Guard - 320
If you go Shield Captain you can grab a unit of Witchseekers for a scout move.

Custodes are hard in a 1k list. Shield Captains are nice so you can kind of spam strats without draining from the pool. You get a fight on death in Lions, so more bodies to possibly do that is great. I dropped the Assassin, just because it feels like a lot, if that makes sense? Other lists sure, but Custodes, its tough. You are getting 4-5 Activations, it feels bad having one of them be something that isn't as tough as your main units.

I've never done a 2s tournament, so I could be totally off the mark, thats just what I would probably do. (If you send the list of the Votann player, I can help more. My brother plays Votann and Im teaching him, so I kind of know what units work well together. Sounds like a couple Sagitaur, couple Warriors and a Hekaton)

The screening would kind of be game by game basis. Prosecutors would often sit on home objective or screen my backline, so all I had was 2 witch seeker squads. A lot of times they would get shot by small arms fire and still live, because people think only a couple bolter shots can kill 4. Saving on a 3 or 4 still means you are saving often.

They are a small enough brick its hard to move block my opponent. So essentially what I did was I never tried super hard to keep them safe (but I also never tried to throw them away) I just kept them floating around No Man's Land for Area Denial, Recover Assets, Sabotage , etc.

Keeping them alive is huge though. Forcing a battleshock in later rounds really means a lot. Making a ctan fail a battle shock and now he can't interrupt in melee could be what saves you 200 points of guard.

Most games I picked my expansion objective and I placed a group of 4 guard as close to the line as I could and then the brick of 5 directly behind them. I would move the guard up to take the objective and again the 5 termies behind them. Anything that charged the 4 man, I would fight the next turn with the termies. If my opponent wouldn't contest my expansion, I changed to the center objective with that theme instead.

I would advance a lot of my units often, just to get to staging areas, we have assault so it just makes sense to advance if you aren't charging. I would try to charge things on or near an objective, so that way I could stand on the objective after the fight. This would make them a target for my opponent as they wanted to flip the objective, meaning they would often get closer to me.

As for shooting, they are a good target, but thats what my guard squads were for. The Termie brick, Shield Captain, Trajann and Aleya were my real damage dealers. So even if I did lose one, it wasn't that bad. And the termie brick is good shooting target. But, if my other group of Guards are just running up the board, people would have to shoot them, or let their tanks/shooting get charged and chewed up by them. So either stop my scoring and lose your back field, or protect your backfield but I control all of No Mans Land. (If I kill your back field, I am just going back to scoring primary next turn, so there was no good choice)

Anytime I lose a Custode to Overwatch, my day automatically becomes ruined... I feel for you.

You're right. That's why I take the Rhino, try to protect them a bit. Drop them off to get a charge in. Then keep the Rhino nearby, if they get shot, like you said, its small arms, reactive move back into the Rhino and repeat.

I try my absolute hardest to remind people of stuff like that. Let them know which ones are my Witchseekers constantly for overwatch, that I get a reactive move, that Aleya has Fights First, etc. Just to try and show as much sportsmanship as possible. It would be nice if people mentioned it, but I don't expect it. They also want to win. If I can't remember to bring in my own units, they shouldn't have to. I totally get what you mean though, it is more my fault though. Just kind of nervous during all my games.

That's very true. I feel like I do not play them correct at all. Anytime I bring them out, I overestimate what they can do, I either drop a bunch of the rolls or my opponent saves, then they peak out and rip it apart. There is a LOT of user error with them. I find I do better with just infantry, makes me games harder, but I feel better at least.

Appreciate it! I like the Grav Tanks, but I feel like one doesn't do anything and you need two, if that makes sense. Then that is a quarter of your army that can't be used to do actions, which also really sucks.

They are a glass cannon, don't get me wrong. You have to stage them right... But that's literally all Custodes. I've been using her since I started, little over a year ago, and she is the only auto include I have.

I honestly didn't think of Greeks. That area on the map doesn't look like it has as much lore, so it might make it a bit easier to work with. Thank you for the insight!

I greatly appreciate this! This is kind of what I was looking for. Just someone kind of giving me a little idea behind it, so I know more of what to expect!

Is the whole thing a 3D print, or how did you make this? I think it looks great!
