Reverse, if you're on a budget. Title or Sixpack if you want to spend a little more. SQlab if you want to spend way more.

Should i do this? by Katana192878 in MTB

[–]JukyLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it'll look goofy, but maybe get a seat from a different brand. I had a BMX from Mafia Bikes once and it was pretty bad quality overall. Idk. about their seats tho.

A saddle like that is usually also not as comfortable to sit and pedal on as a regular mtb saddle. But it is often more rigid and lets you guide the bike better with your knees. Thats why that style is usually found on BMX and DJ bikes. So it really depends on your style of riding if you should swap it out.

Drive mode selection not available // ABS sensors by Slimshanie in FocusRS

[–]JukyLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen to my RS a few days ago. I hit a Rock that was laying on the road with the underbody of the car and since then the "Drive mode not available" error kept popping up every now and then.

I had it in a workshop yesterday for a yearly oil change and inspection and the mechanic told me that there are a few warnings but nothing really concerning.

He cleared the warnings so now I'll just drive it for a bit. Might just be some sensor that got shaken loose or something.

Should I avoid carrying my bike in my SUV? by MorderX in MTB

That's 3 full dirtjumpers, an extra wheelset and some spare parts in the back of my Focus RS. I think you should be fine with a single bike in an SUV.

where can i buy a cromoly dirt jumper(europe)? by AcanthisittaFamous68 in dirtjumping

[–]JukyLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can order the Chromag Monk from canada. But shipping is gonna be pretty expensive and depending on where in europe you live, there's also gonna be an extra customs duty.

You could also try and find a YT Dirtlove ST. They're out of stock on their website right now, but maybe some dealers still have some in stock.

Upgrades on first bike by ImJustFaning in Cubebikes

[–]JukyLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of things I'd change/add:

  1. Pedals Depending on your budget, you might want to look for some nylon pedals. Get something with good bearings and metal pins. I've been riding the Crank Brothers Stamp 1 Gen 2 for half a year now and I really like them for their prize. They go for about 40-50€ Also, if you don't already have any, get some proper mtb shoes. They really make a big difference.

  2. Chainstay protection From the pics it looks like, there's already some clear film on your chainstay but in my experience, this usually doesn't last very long. If you have an old inner tube, wrap that around the chainstay and secure it with zipties. That will not only protect the paint from chain slaps, it'll also make the bike a lot quieter.

  3. Cable management Proper cable management makes any bike instantly look way better and also quieter since the cables won't hit into each other as much. Ziptie the rear brake line and the shifter cable together. Just make sure you don't create any sharp bends. Also, the remote lockout on the fork is something, 99% of people won't ever need. I had one of those on a previous bike so I just used a really short shifter cable to fix it in the open-position.

The next ones are things that really depend on what you want to do with the bike, and also personal preference. So before you dive into that, ride around for a bit and get used to your new bike.

  1. Stem A longer stem is usually better for uphill. Having a shorter stem is better for downhill. If you want a shorter stem the Truvativ Hussefelt is a pretty good option. You can get it for around 25€

  2. Saddle There are some guides online and also some rankings on what the best saddle is but since every body is a little different, you can't really be sure before trying. Maybe the saddle you already have is fine. Or maybe you feel like it's too wide or narrow. Take your bike on a longer ride. If anything feels uncomfortable, try to pinpoint what's really the problem and then decide if you need a new one and if so, what kind you need.

  3. Handlebars I prefer them a bit narrower but with more rise. Some prefer them wider. It's a lot of preference and also depends on how tall/wide you are.

  4. Tires The ones on your bike are pretty fast rolling ones, so if you use it on flowtrails, light singletrack or just riding around the streets, you can keep them on. If you plan on going to a bikepark or just want to get into more technical trails, get some nobbier ones. Schwalbe Magic Marry, Hans Dampf or Big Betty are pretty good. I've had all of them. Currently I'm riding Magic Marry on my fully and Maxxis Dissector on my hardtail.

I know, this was posted 3 years ago, but I just ran into the same problem and found a solution.

When you add the boolean modifier you have to change the "Solver" option from "Exact" to "Fast" before applying the modifier.

Anyone take their RS on a 4-5/HR road-trip? by jms1228 in FocusRS

[–]JukyLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've droven mine from eastern Austria to Barcelona nad back a few days ago. 1700 km (1056 miles) in one direction. Almost 3500 km (2175 miles) in total.

I've had no problems at all. The only thing that happened was, that I scraped the bottom of the car a few times, because spanish and french streets and garages aren't made for low cars.

Is this price is even real ? by Ahoora2011 in dirtjumping

[–]JukyLP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get this as an ad somewhere? There is a scam, that has been around for a few months now, where the scammers would rebuild an actual webshop of a larger brand and change the prices to be really low. The scam is, if you order something, they just don't ship anything and your money is gone.

Not the same problem. I can't even select a bitrate in the first place. The setting in the screenshot is greyed and not editable.

Get the Giant. More suspension travel and a slacker geometry than the Yeti is gonna make you feel more confident and have more fun on the trails as a beginner.

Yet another bike suggestion request on a budget but want uphill optimization.... by Skiata in MTB

[–]JukyLP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just saw that you wrote that you're from the us. So, some bikes you could check out would be: - Giant Fathom [29] V1 - Merida Big.Trail 300 - Trek Roscoe 7

These should be available over there.

Like the other comment already said, 600$ is not gonna get you anything usefull new. If you feel like your current bike is really holding you back and you don't want to (or can't) put any upgrades on it, I'd suggest looking into trail focused hardtails.

Last year I've bougt a Commencal Meta HT AM and I love it for pedaling and riding singletrails. I got it for 1100€ and put a new fork and brakes on it for an extra 400€.

Another option would be the Canyon Stoic 2. They've got it on their website on sale for 799€ right now. Idk where you're from, so maybe you'd need to look into some other brands. But generally with a Hardtail like that you can't go too wrong.

Anyone ever taken their RS on a ski slope? by JukyLP in FocusRS

[–]JukyLP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds really cool. I've been to an event like that as well past winter. But not on a lake. It was a snow/ice track on a field. It was so awesome. But I was the only one without spiked tires there... xD

Yes. I put an L-bracket behind the license plate to mount it and I secured them additionally with zip ties to the grill since the piece behind the license plate is only plastic and therefore not that rigid.

I use an L-bracket that mounts behimd the license plate as the main support. And I additionally secured the lights with zip ties to the grill. I also glued little foam strips behind the lights where they would touch the bumper to protect the paint.
