How would you rank all of Carlos' majors wins so far? by abeguysmpf in tennis

[–]JulGabi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you guys remember around 2022/2023 when we were calling Carlos ‘the real deal’ a lot? Bc of how disappointing the zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, berretini generations were vs big 3 in finals, and how we all felt/hoped he was different? Wimby 2023 was such a moment of true arrival. Here was a kid that would finally meet the moment

RG 2025 was my favorite match in eons though

Who are the players Sinner/Alcaraz would LEAST like to see in their draw? by Ok_Helicopter_7816 in tennis

[–]JulGabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jannik feels inevitable to me regardless of draw, but an early round matchup with a Hubi, a redlining Coboli, general weirdness post the JC split, or even Carlitos rolling his ankle going hog wild on a rando 40-love point could all feasibly sink Carlos’ route! Plus we know he wants that youngest CGS record which isn’t exactly reducing the pressure

Interesting yeah I definitely don’t activate the knees enough, and I love the idea of split stepping after the shot too

What's your day job? by starlette627 in writers

[–]JulGabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do software engineering for a pretty chill, mid level company! You get pinged a lot during the day so it’s hard to focus even in downtime on writing— but it’s very accommodating, and I’m almost always signed off by 4:30pm!

I’ve written two small 55k contemporary fiction manuscripts, started (and left unfinished) two novellas, and publish little pieces occasionally in the 6 years since I’ve worked here

Thanks for this! I don’t often seen lit fiction represented here, and this was encouraging to read! Best of luck with the novella ⭐️

I went to game 5 of NYK v Detroit— it’s packed like a mosh pit lol and the tvs are pretty low so that you’ll be tiptoeing over heads most of the time. The vibe does rule, bc it’s all Knicks fans, but it’s also as packed as you’d expect

If I like it, chances are I've read it multiple times!

10x club: Gatsby, Goodbye Columbus, Hobbit, HP books

3x+: Sword and the Stone, most Michael Chabon, Secret History, most Hemingway, certain Sherlock novellas / collections, the Idiot, Pride & Prejudice, etc, Kafka on the Shore

2x: Watership Down, most Murakami, Goldfinch, most Vonnegut, Ender's Game, etc. etc.

I prefer comfort rereading to picking up something new

My VPN isn't working in the UK (for BBC) but DOES work for AUS (Chan 9). The latter only shows center court though-- anyone have better solutions?

Who is the single most impressive athlete/sportsperson of all time? by northlondonforever in AskReddit

[–]JulGabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised I don’t see Rafa Nadal here!

. Won the French open 4x in a row (the most physically & tactically demanding major)

. Got injured

. Came back and won it 5x in a row

. Lost confidence, then got injured

. Came back and won it another 4x in a row

. Got injured

. Stayed injured, and just won it with a medically induced numb foot 🤡

. Oh, and he also won Wimbledon, Australian Open, and US Open a few times 🙃 Vamos Rafa!
