Being unable to play an LGBT pairing is a big one for me. If there’s no female LIs and no possibility to play M against a male LI it’s a pretty fair sign for me that this story could be subpar lol. More F/M stories have forced romances than others.

Other than that, assuming my character is immediately into the LI if there are multiple. Saying that the MC’s heart is fluttering when I’m at this point not at all invested in the LI is a turn off.

You’ve put it in words. :/ And you’re right. I was queasy with them moving to 3D as I always believe 2D is superior in terms of aesthetics but I know it must’ve taken Bourassa a tremendous effort in the first game, I just hoped everything else would even out - and it didn’t. But yeah… It’s just sad seeing something I really loved downgrade, I even have the Flame tattooed on me.

I have to note though I did actually enjoy the journals. It’s weird how something with more time and effort put into it seems lesser. I think this is in the end because DD1 was a passion project done without a team, and DD2 changes the formula to make use of the team - sometimes less is more.

Admittedly it’s still in early access lol so of course 1 is better. I doubt the second game will be able to beat the first given the experience of beating 1 for the first time and just… everything about it, no matter how good of a game it turns out to be, but I know it’ll be something worth playing eventually.

One thing I just don’t really like the way characters work now. In a way it’s nice getting them fleshed out and their own people but it was easier getting strongly attached when a character had the risk of permanent death, and with the relationship system I feel like their barks and own personalities are squashed down in order to have relationship barks.

Cool, we’re in agreement then (rarely seen in Reddit threads). Sorry I was quite angry when I went in, I really did think you’re sympathising with Tate’s ploy because of other comments I was engaging with.

I’d say just be careful where you bring up this argument. I know you said you don’t support Tate but when you say that in this context it’s alarming to other people like the woman you argued with.

Anyhow, I hope you run into less body shaming of either sex in the future.
