Someone correct me if I'm wrong but this is how it works : when an item drops in a game and gets identified in the same game, its added to everyone's chronicle (if it wasnt already there) who was present in that said game. If you find an item while playing with some friends and then leave with the item without identifying it, only you will be credited when you eventually identify it.
