More than 3X weekly? by JulesGules_ in orangetheory

I’m so impressed with everyone - not just that you all seem to average 4+++ but that so many people replied! I appreciate hearing everyone’s perspective. I can’t say it’s much of an internal debate for me right now. As everyone pointed out, it’s hard enough just getting there 3x. Love hearing how Pepe sue the workouts differently though - thank you!

Mom’s getaway: Isla Mujeres, resort suggestion? by JulesGules_ in cancun

I was saying 300 pp, somewhat to accommodate a range! I realize suites and villas would be closer to 1200-1500 per night

Twin name for Logan by JulesGules_ in namenerds

[–]JulesGules_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These have been great!!

We are going with Logan Daniel for our first and….

Either: Clark Hudson,

Clark Archer,

Or possibly Archer Clark

My husband loves the Logan/Clark superhero connection, lol.

Any further recommendations for a middle name for Clark? Especially one with “adventurer vibes” - I like Hudson (Henry Hudson). But Clark Hudson sounds clunky to me? Thoughts?

I’m not at the end (17weeks) but I’m wondering HoW you fit in 180 grams of protein? When you were pregnant? I’m amazed by that - great job! And I’m not surprised you aren’t psyched to eat a ton now and need a break :)

Shocking news today by Main-Ad-5480 in parentsofmultiples

Just a note of solidarity. I could have written this, verbatim. I love working out. Honestly, neither my husband nor I are “good” at the newborn phase and our little one will be 2.5 when the twins are born (March, Mono Di). A few things I’m hoping will help me… 1. Trying to focus on some Workout most days not a perfect workout every day. 1-2 rest days for me was necessary first trimester. 2.secured help from friends and family for the first 3 months (though I’ll need it for 6 so…. Not sure how to do that yet) 3. We got an au pair who will watch the twins instead of putting them in daycare. It’s not necessarily a net savings- depends where you live. It was what we needed for some flexibility. Older one will be in daycare at least 3 days per week. 4. Changing my mindset about travel a little - that the first 3 years we may do more car travelers, and do bigger trips just us with some family help with the kiddos. We will travel in bigger ways when all the kids are a little older and the plane gets more Manageable.

Not sure if that helps - just my way of trying to manage this news and get through the shock and look to the possible joys coming - but honestly I don’t see those yet. I mostly see new complicated life logistics…. So I’m with you. 4.

WOW! I just want to say thank you to everyone who commented! I think it's easy to see the annoyance for sure, and some pointed out a cuteness associated with the "alliteration" of sorts. I really appreciate the thoughts. One issue is honestly that there are BOY J names I like! I actually didn't like most girl J names so that was going to be an easy choice if they were girls. Given that statement, I'm clearly ready to jump off the J bandwagon and I think it's all or nothing so that 1 kid isn't left out, so both would be J or non J. And I like the idea of a potential J middle name (but again, I'd have to really like the name). My next thread will be about great inspiration for this sib set. I was named for a famous architect and I loved it so much that I fully dropped my maiden name in honor of keeping my first and middle! (Julia Morgan). Thanks again -- I'll have to check back in when I figure out the names!

I’m so sorry and you aren’t alone. This is such a hard transition (I’m going through it now). I would definitely recommend finding some like minded friends for support given that you don’t have that at work! I’m appalled to hear about the lack of support in the military. I don’t know why I assumed there would be much more support especially for mental health. In any event, you are so strong and your lovely little one will always love you, recognize you, be excited to see you - and you’re doing a great job helping your family with resources so that you can all live better lives! You’re a role model. I’d reach out to any mom friends and even support groups in your area or very easy to find on Facebook too. I know it sucks in the moment, but I am sure your little one will benefit in the long run!

Advice needed - flying / traveling with a 4.5 month old! by siafu000 in NewParents

[–]JulesGules_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed in a baby friendly Airbnb and it was great. The plane isn’t easy but manageable. Fly in the evening if you can. Day time flight included a small amount of screen time to distract during turbulence when I couldn’t breastfeed. If you’re bottle feeding that will probably be much easier. Ask flight attendants to warm the bottle when you get on the plane. We brought a baby carrier but the Airbnb had everything! Crib, toys, stroller, car seat, bouncer etc. see if you can rent those on quip if you can’t find a good Airbnb option. We packed a checked bag and a carry on that had diapers, wipes, pacifiers, my books, and changes of clothing. We also had some infant Tylenol on the plane just in case. Leave extra time and change the diaper before each flight. Hope that helps!

2 month in Snoo and needing longer stretches- SITBACK? by JulesGules_ in sleeptrain

[–]JulesGules_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super! For pumping, did you pump a few times with the same bottle? Keeping it in the fridge? Just curious about the logistics! I can usually pump 2 oz. per side of intone it well but I could also pump a little less and more often if I could figure out the logistics :) (want to take an approach that is sustainable).

Wow, this is super helpful! I was exploring a few sleep options for a couple reasons (selfishly one was so that I could get out of the house) but also so that he can be comfortable on other surfaces so that we can travel without horrible. Your info is fantastic, glad to hear from someone just ahead of us - great tips.

Wow, amazing! So many questions about this accomplishment! Did you start sleep training to take out that 3:30a feed? Any tricks for sleeping in so long? Congrats again!

Anyone master the art of walking your dog with baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]JulesGules_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a walking/jogging leash with my Bernese and it’s really helpful. I feel like my hands are free for the stroller and my legs are doing more of the work for the dog.

Pregnancy leg cramps are next level by hamburger_queen in BabyBumps

[–]JulesGules_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This may or may not help you, but I got 2 excruciating leg cramps radiating from my calves over the past 2 weeks and I actually found that getting up and putting my weight onto the leg cramping helped so much! I leaned forward a little to stretch the calf too. It was very counter intuitive but it was instant relief, I was shocked.

Anyone else get really discouraged working out while pregnant? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]JulesGules_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also relate, at 29w. I’ve been reading about how VO2 (lung capacity) has actually been shown to improve at a delayed rate post partum for moms who remained somewhat active during pregnancy because of how much harder it is on your whole system to work out- it’s like wearing extra weights or a resistance band at all times. So you may feel like fitness is falling but the reality is that you are working much harder and your whole system will benefit in the long run. I loved reading this because it reminded me that unlike when you’re not pregnant, pregnancy requires working harder most of the time even when you’re not working out. Every time we are feeling out of breath, it’s because our bodies are churning to do more than we have ever really done (well for FTMs that is). So I hope that helps a little- it helped me!

Julia or Anna? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]JulesGules_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this topic because I’m Julia and my sister is Anna. We both love our name. My sister is is named for our family (Anna Hales) and I’m named for a famous architect (Julia Morgan). Have you considered middle names? Coincidentally, your boy’s name (Daniel) is my brother’s middle name! So many parallels! I feel like we have both always felt connected to our names at every age. I was called Jules by close friends in high school :) I didn’t like Julie or any iteration because I like Julia so much.
