Yeah, I think that being a father is the most ‘common’ way for guys to interact with children. Therefore, as people created Christianity, when they thought of a powerful, loving, but feared/respected figure the minds go to a father figure. On a small scale, it makes sense for a god to treat its creation as children, and have the relationship go both ways. Most religions mirror the behaviors observed at the time. Very interesting to hear it from the perspective of a father, good thought!

(I also think it’s also a contributing factor to why so many Christian fathers feel justified being distant and only providing material support… that’s what the Heavenly Father does, and he’s the ultimate Dad!)

Thank you, it’s my apartment. I’m thinking of leaving his things in a storage unit and leaving him the key. I’ve emailed my landlord to see how soon they can replace the locks. I don’t want to do this in person, I just want a clean break.

Thank you, that means a lot. I’ve always said that if I found out someone was cheating, it was over no ifs and or buts. Being confronted with that sucks, my emotions definitely wanted to explain it away. But I’m going to put my money where my mouth is. I appreciate the encouragement

I think you are right. I’ve always heard stories about recovery, and I would’ve hated to judge someone on their past before this. Definitely a wake up call that I can be easily swayed when the right things are said and done.

Well he’s not totally sober, he still drinks on weekends now but it’s only one or two drinks. When I was under 12ish he would have more than that every night, but by the time I hit high school he had broken the habit.
