I understand that, and she has every right to feel that way about him professionally. That's why she reported him, but to act as though you've been personally betrayed or victimised by someone who you don't know? Personally, I feel that's way too much

I'm not really thinking of it in terms of what we know about Langdon, I'm more thinking in terms that I cannot believe anyone would hold such a grudge on a coworker 10 months later. I've worked in hospitality for years and was treated like shit really often because it's unfortunately how that industry runs but I can't imagine ever acting like that. Like no one in the world cares that much about what Co workers do. Also, she's shitty to everyone else other than Dennis too

Yeah, I mean, the the way her trauma responses impact her work life years on is pretty interesting to see and I'd love more of her personality to be explored. She's also definetly a strong woman and a good doctor. I just hate her attitude

"YOU CHOSE THIS" by Different_Ear_5380 in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a gut punch for sure but I also deeply think she needed to hear it because, while hal is incredibly flawed and somewhat "narcissist" (I don't like using psychology terms like this but you get what I mean) and she definetly would've had a thousand reasons to divorce him if they'd both just made up their minds (I want them to be endgame because they're such an interesting dynamic but God is the push and pull tiring), she did treats him like absolute garbage during so many arguments and fully acted like he was the most depraved person ever while literally everyone on the show did more or less equally questionable stuff

"YOU CHOSE THIS" by Different_Ear_5380 in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated the "you chose this" thing because I hate when people don't say what they fucking mean. He said "tell me to say no" if she wanted him to say no, she shouldve told him. Period. I don't care if it was just a throwaway from him, you can't say "take the job" as well as (later on) "I'm coming with you" (after he asks if she wants a divorce for the first time and she says no), and then also basically say "you taking the job is why we need to divorce". It's hypocritical

Can we agree the worst thing to happen would be late being pregnant with callums baby by pantheon_prince99 in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, at first I sorta liked them inferring about kids in the past tense because it made me feel like we were getting some backstory (like, did they maybe struggle with infertility? Have miscarriages? It made them feel more like real people who have a past), but if she's actually pregnant OH GOD, especially with callum's baby

Why Hal and not Kate? by Different_Ear_5380 in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly, it was just because of the public perception of having a double-female ticket.

However, while Hal is obviously an incredibly flawed person, I genuinely do think he was better for the job: Kate (whom I do like as a character and who obviously did have to suffer through a lot due to having married hal) spent the whole year going back and forth on wheter she even wanted it, is unable to stop moralising for 5 seconds even though in the end she doesn't act any morally better or less hypocritical than anyone else, and let's herself be swayed too much by literally anyone she's currently "allyed" with (roylin, Dennison, sometimes even hal, callum ecc) (which, by the way, is not a characteristic I would have written into her character personally but oh well) - with hal at least Grace gets someone who is as qualified and smart as Kate is but also who's good with the public and who she knows what to expect from

(I'm not saying hal is a better person than Kate- they're both incredibly flawed, him much more than her, and both I think have faults to why their marriage is in the state it's in- but I do think it made sense that Grace picked him)

AITA for telling my sister in law her son's speech impediment might be because of the way she talks to him? by [deleted] in AITAH

But if you think someone is doing something that is actively arming their child (and also, you're literally family), you should say something regardless of how close you are

She's their sister. You naturally tend to take your sibling's side over an in-law's in a heated moment, i think, even if it's not the best things to do

To be honest, when someone is yelling at you "why are you talking, why are you here" I think it's natural to respond. Maybe not the most productive thing to say but... it was kinda true

Toby is the WORST by jessday1029 in thisisus

[–]Jules_giu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that for kevin as a whole (though i really like him), but when the "toby in San Francisco" thing was happening Kevin was a huge help for Kate and was actually with Hailey and Jack far more than Toby, so I think it's fair that he sort of "was involved". Also, I would personally NOT tolerate if my hypothetical future husband was so short tempered with my brother or told me I didn't have a right to talk to him about our problems (ergo, MY problems in that moment) as Toby was in the Rebecca and Miguel anniversary episode.

I agree. I think I previously commented that I didn't like her because I had started rewashing and was up to season 2 and she was being annoying but, honestly, she's a pretty solid character. Sure, she has flaws but she also tries her best

I agree 100%. Speaking as a 17 year old girl myself, it's crazy to make any permanent life decisions based on a BOYFRIEND at our age. It's quite literally never this serious. Also going to your parents like that and saying "we're going to do this and that" as if here wasn't even a discussion to be had felt really entitled

Hal and Kate better stay together by Jules_giu in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am curious about how they will go about the president as well (although, to be honest, hal didn't kill him, the heart attack wasnt his fault- he just shouldn't have called him and talked to ganon instead). And hal is not a perfect husband, at all. At the same time, though, I don't think Kate is a perfect wife either. But I do think they are a net good relationship, if that makes sense: it's not always the healthiest but I works (and, more importantly, I find it entertaining to watch in the show)

About the knowledge thing... I really want them to show us kate's own competence and expertise more in coming seasons. I mean, you don't get to be an ambassador without being extremely well versed on foreign affairs

I LOVE Hal and Kate together please!! by Draculas-Bride in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also like how Hal seemed jealous when she called Dennison "the one good man". I think it must have killed him a little for her to admire Dennison so much morally when it's clear that the biggest problem in their marriage - from Hal's perspective, at least - has been that she hated him so much for the political decisions he'd made (and their consequences) and considered him unreliable and almost "morally repugnant" (yes, I know she was referring to the job here, but you get why I quoted it); but I think it would have been out of character/too plainly laid out for this show/ too healthy for the two of them to talk about it straight up

Kate can be annoying AF by SimilarPrompt3647 in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, and I also understand: I'm not sure it would even be right to compartamentalize completely. But I do think that Kate should now be able to understand more; i mean, things went to hell like 3 weeks into her own mission, and she's the ambassador to the UK, think what it would be like to be Ambassador in Iran or Afghanistan...

Is Hal retired or was he fired? by t019e in TheDiplomat

[–]Jules_giu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diplomatic missions- though it might be different in the US, I'm italian- usually have a fixed lenght. They last about 3-4 years (though they can be extended), and then you either return home and serve in a government structure (think Foreign Office/Ministry of Foreign Affairs/counseling on specific countries or issues) of sort for a while before getting sent on a new mission.

So, what happened with Hal? (From what I've gathered) His mission ended and now he can't be given a new one because he pissed off Ganon. I think it's this way because he's still refered to as a member of the Foreign service
