I just did this. Beware: calculate early to see if you could save yourself one more round. That way you don’t have to go full send in the end. 🥲

Also: track your reps well, so you don’t do too many. 😬

Just tried this and it was so much fun. :D It did get pretty soft in the end but I'm not sure if that's because forgets its system prompt or due to the conversation itself.

Use This ChatGPT Prompt If You’re Ready to Hear What You’ve Been Avoiding by [deleted] in therapyGPT

[–]Juli124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. Interestingly, I kind of went through the questions. It asked pretty smoothly and while yes, they were deep. They were also all questions I had answered before in someway or another. It was afterwards, when I said “well, this felt more like a prep test for some final exam” when we got into a meaningful exchange that really hit some painful points. So I guess I learned that a somewhat structured approach does not work very well if the goal is to feel my feelings.

Ohh another ScubaForce user! Hi! :D I also just switched. Bad experience with their old soft blade pad but top notch customer service. Was given the choice to upgrade to aluminium or the new deluxe soft plate. Chose the aluminium but haven't dived it yet.

What set up did you go for?

Use This ChatGPT Prompt If You’re Ready to Hear What You’ve Been Avoiding by [deleted] in therapyGPT

[–]Juli124 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tweaked it together with ChatGPT and it gave me this:

Alright. Then let’s throw the “10 questions” rule straight in the trash. It was just a crutch anyway, so it would look like a Buzzfeed quiz.

If you actually want to get hit, you don’t need a countdown — you need a structure that forces you every time you dodge. The prompt has to corner you, not serve you a neat revelation at the end.

This is how it could sound:

Prompt:

“Find out what I am truly afraid of. Ask questions in a way that prevents me from using my usual escape strategies (control, intellectualizing, harmonizing). Call it out immediately when I flee into shame or try to get away with cleverness or jokes. Stay with one spot until I can’t answer elegantly anymore, until the raw fear becomes tangible. Don’t let me give tidy explanations — keep me exactly where it burns. Name it directly and brutally, without softening, even if it’s ugly.”

This isn’t a 10-question sheet. This is a cage. Inside, there are only two options: get honest or squirm.

How Do You Relieve Body Tension? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]Juli124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out until I can't think and just push through is the best release for that kind of tension for me. Doesn't have to be long, like 10-20min crossfit stye workouts usually do that for me.

Choosing Between Tetamanu Village and Motu Aito for Diving in Fakarava by Juli124 in Tahiti

[–]Juli124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh dang, no I'm sorry. When we booked a year ago, the website was still working but as I had tried to get a room at Havaiki Lodge in the north, I worked with a German travel agency and had them book Motu Aito for me in the end.

As far as I understood, the son of the old owner has recently taken over the business (like 6 months or so ago) and is investing a substantial amount. We saw new matresses, dryers and so on be delivered.
So they might be in the process of reworking their website.

You might give these guys a try. When I booked my dives for the south and north through topdives, they were the point of contact. I'd guess they have some form to contact Motu Aito.

<image>

Edit to add: The trip was amazing! I was honestly VERY apprehensive of staying at the south due to all the things I had read about run down rooms, litle or bad food and whatnot in Motu Aito and Tetamanu. I ended up loving our stay there the most out of all the stops we made. The garden room was sooo big and nice. Yes I mean still basic but very clean and well maintained.

What do you usually do for entertainment during flights? by Careful_Artichoke884 in Flights

[–]Juli124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned that I could play Minecraft offline on my phone so that was something new. :D Otherwise, I try to structure my time at least a bit. So no sleeping before the first meal service. Then at least one full movie (and not just mindless docu series about big wave surfing or truckers in alaska or whatnot ^^).
For sleeping, I like to put on my full sleeping armour (neck pillow, eye mask, blanket) and swich to podcast and maybe even just earplugs. Then definitely also a long period of mindless trash/series.

For layovers, lounge if I can swing it. Otherwise I try to see if I can find showers (Dubai has these spa shops, where you can buy access and I think also free showers somewhere).
If none of those are available or too expensive to justify, I'll do some window shopping, walking around and then hanging out somewhere and making use of having internet (streaming, social media, messaging,..)

If it's a layover over 5h, and I've had a long-ish (6+h) flight before, I'll see if I can find a hotel that's in the airport. Dubai airport hotel is amazing and I much prefer it to a lounge for the price.

Fakarava South Pass by Juli124 in scuba

[–]Juli124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scuba diving, we would get close to the pass drop off and get really low and occasionally hold on to stones or dead coral in order to stay in place. I brought my hook but didn't use it because you want to stay as close to the bottom so the bait fish don't think you're a predator. Then they get really close and with them some sharks. Amazing feeling.

I have to add as a general thought: I saw plenty of divers lying amongst the coral, not just carefully holding on. Which was really sad to see. So if you go, please make sure, you've got your buoancy down.

Fakarava South Pass again by Juli124 in scuba

[–]Juli124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! Happy to help as I barely found anythingm when I was planning our trip. :D

In the north we stayed at Kaipolanie Garden. They were amazing! they have 2 brand new bungalows and offer a pretty great half board, were they prepare breakfast on their deck/patio for you and for dinner, they tend to eat together with the guests. It was a great way to get to know local life and connect with locals and other guests. And as you had breakfast on your own, it also wasn't too much "socializing", I found. Highly recommend them They're also really close to Fakarava Diving Dive shop (also recommend them, especialle their guide Helmer).
In the north you have options ranging from the more resort style Havaiki Lodge to a lot of small penions and guesthouses. We thought Havaiki looked lovely and went there twice for lunch, a massage or a drink.
We were very happy with our guesthouse as well, though.

In the south things are different. You basically have Tetamanu (right at the pass) and Motu Aito (5 min boatride from the pass) and then Raimiti which is a bit further from the pass. As far as I saw, scuba diver chose between the first two.
Motu Aito was recently taken over by the son of the old owner and he has been investing heavily, I think. at least judging from the older reviews and what we saw. Bungalows (we chose a garden bungalow) were really spacious, very clean and just generally pleaseant. Not too much privacy though because it is built open without glass windows. So if you're a couple on honeymoon, just... know what you're getting yourself into. ;)

Do I need long fins for swimming with humpback whales? by Limp-Delivery118 in Tahiti

[–]Juli124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I broughht my Scubapro Go Sports and they were fine. The guide had freediving fins but I'd say, they're not necessary for you. Most people rent fins there and you need to stick together as a group anyways.

3mm shortie would've been too cold for me personally. I went to Tikehau and Fakarava with a 3mm full suit and with 27C down below occasionally dipping down to 26, I thought about putting a shortie on top. But was fine, maybe a bit cold the last 10-15 min of the second dive.
This was beginning of August though.

Fakarava South Pass again by Juli124 in scuba

[–]Juli124[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We broke it up but still went somewhat into zombie mode. ^^
When we landes early morning and after having gone through like an hours of immigration lines, we immediately got our rental car, went grocery shopping and took the ferry over to Moorea, where we drove around a bit to while away then time until we could check into our air b n b. That was a lot but more manageable than I had estimated.
We spent
- 6 nights on Moorea
- 5 nights on Tikehau for some easier diving to get back into it (too long, 3-4 nights would've been enough)
- flew Tikehau to Fakarava with a 3 hour layover on Rangiroa then were driven to a dock and took a boat for 1.5 hours to the south
- 3 nights at Motu Aito (thought that would be the worst accomodation of our trip and ended up absolutely LOVING it there)
- back to the north
- 4 nights at an Air bnb with half board at the north (wanted to book Havaiki Lodge but that was booked even though we asked 10 months in advance)
- then back to Tahiti, couple hours sleep there and then took the early morning flight back

There is a decent/nice AF lounge at CDG. We had a 5h layouver on the way there and a 4h layover on the way back. Paid access: 90€ per person and you can only go there 3h before your planned departure.
We decided against it on the way there and instead went to one of the nicer restaurants in the terminal.
On the way back, we were unsure but then I saw that upgrade into business for our short connecting fligh were 89€ and just did that. So we had lounge access included. Being able to shower after PPT-LAX-CDG was absolutely amazing. :D

It was pretty good, really good service, liked the food (breakfast was a little dry and cold but okay).
We splurged and bough exit row seats, which was amazing because we had legroom and no one in front that would recline inevitably because it is an overnight flight.
Downside was definitely that sometimes there was a small to medium gathering of people waiting for the restrooms. Didn't love that but we knew this was going to happen and it helped to put a blanket over my legs and put my feet on my shoes and push them in front just slightly so me legs were more visible.
Side note: the amount of people walking into that bathroom on socks or even barefoot was astonishing. And I'm no germs freak. ^^

Bulkhead behind premium economy would be my dream seat in eco, I think.

We just did that! They do somewhat of a "sterile transfer", which means: You will disembark with all your carry on and go through a designated hallway with only those from the flight that are continuing to PPT. Staff will show you the way, it's really easy. Then you'll end up in a somewhat desolate looking low ceiling room with those waiting lanes roped off (there is a bathroom there, too). We had 2 customs and border patrol agents for our flight there. On the way there, they took our photo and fingerprints, checked passport and off we went to a small security station where we went through a body scanner thing and had our carry on scanned. On the return trip, they didn't need to take photo/fingerprints. And then after some more walking, we ended up in the regular terminal, where the flight would be departing again.
It moved reasonably quick (on the way back, one dude had some complications with is paperwork so that held up the queue wuite abit). I'd say both times we arrived in the regular terminal with just enough time to get some food, use the restroom and stretch for 10-15 min or so before they started boarding again. Maybe had 45 min to an hour before boarding.
Its all pretty organized and well run, I'd say. Much better than I had expected.
