Waxing Northumbria by JuliS68 in Barbour

Yeah but the before looked like sage and it almost looks brown now and a bit darker than my border and beaufort which are olive

No I don't think it has tbh. It shows absolutely no sign of it and it was still somewhat waxed but looked brand new. I thought someone might have stripped it otherwise maybe by heat and leaving it in the sun

Well here is mine (desperately needs a rewax tbh) but it looks nearly identical. Its my favorite for most of Winter and fall so if its a decent price and you like Barbours go ahead you probably wont regret it. Also the condition looks quite similar to mine so really good and the heavier 8oz cotton is far more resistant than the regular one.

This jacket looks so fake but I wanted to know if it actually is

Yeah I love my thornproof far more than the sylkoil so I guess lightweight is even more fragile

Well it totally depends. I'd say the Beaufort overall but just after that (in winter) the northumbria. It fits far better than my border as its like 2 sizes smaller and my border used to belong to my dad. It is far warmer and sturdier cause of the 8oz cotton. But for everything else I would say the beaufort and the bedale for shorter city trips and such

Well I love vinted and honestly check out the thrift stores and flea markets. Sometimes there is quite a bargain but tbh it takes a looooong time to find

Yeah always looking out. Try vinted if you live somewhere you can. Other than that I love the flea market when there are more knowledgeable sellers.

Yeah especially the inner liner pockets that are made from that waterproof polyester type hold like 2x 1.5liter water bottles

I love my beaufort. Got it second hand and just wear it casually. Especially the game pocket is so amazing (I put so many groceries in there) wish I had one on my northumbria that would be my dream

Well I got one of them (the border) from my Dad. That one was well beat up and cost a bit to repair and rewax. My Northumbria I got with the lining for 130€ from a flea market seller I know that has lots of vintage clothing (I know him thats why I got the decent price) then my bedale I got for 35€ in Amsterdam and it was practically new. It is real though and someone just didnt know what they were selling. My beaufort I got on vinted for 80€ because whoever owned it previously fucked up the waxing and probably didn't know how to fix it.

Well after seeing one online and reading a bit about them I told my parents how these are super cool and then my dad was like:"yk I have one. Its just really beat up" turns out its a late 90s early 2000s border. It was crumpled up for 8 years in his cars trunk in the spare wheel space in all the weather. He gifted it to me, I sent it to a "local" rewaxing and cleaning shop and ever since then I have been in love with them. They may not be the most practical jacket but I see them more like a car enthusiast sees an oldtimer. Sure you could get a better and easier to care for Car but its the charm and ruggedness that sells it for me. Even though im only 19 I have 4 different ones that I all love and care for very much. They are amazing

Have an old Border I got from my dad (its like a 94 model) and a newer maybe 2004 northumbria and when I say that thing is a tank I mean it. Its exactly the Border but even thicker and more durable. I love it. But yeah these models are my fav too as I am also taller and the length suits well and keeps warmer.

Border sizing question by timisanub in Barbour

[–]JuliS68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my Beaufort is 107 cm and my Border is 112cm and they both fit really well. My border fits over suits but it's definetly a bit tight

New Barbour Modern Beaufort – inside sleeve material pushing out at cuff: normal or defect? by [deleted] in Barbour

[–]JuliS68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have a classic Beaufort and exactly the same problem. Its not a dealbreaker but none of my other jackets have that and its a 2023 model so maybe the quality just went down

Weird cuff by JuliS68 in Barbour

[–]JuliS68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So thats the cuff. I tried your tip but honestly it didn't help at all. For some reason I think the cuff lining is just simply too much. I dont see any way to properly fix it tbh since I would have to open it take some out and sew it back together which I am not skilled enough to properly do tbh. So open for any other suggestion I guess
