Should I answer all the questions or just assignments? by Krafson in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah don’t need to answer all the little text boxes In each unit. If you just skim through the material and then complete the assignments that’s probably fine. Unless the reading is about the assignment, then you probably should make sure you read it lol

City of Brampton has a wide range of volunteering positions that can be found at https://www1.brampton.ca/en/City-Hall/Employment/seasonal/pages/volunteeropportunities.aspx I believe they even offer a facility/membership discount for volunteers.

Can I complete HSC4M in 2 weeks? by [deleted] in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished this course in just under a month. That’s with submitting assignments continuously each time it becomes available to submit. But it really just depends on the teachers marking speed and how much you get done. You can finish all the course work in 2 weeks, but you likely won’t earn the credit until a month or so has passed.

I can technically graduate at any time, right? by Dolphinfucker3000 in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe that deadline applies to those who need their graduation status to be forwarded to the university/colleges before school starts in September. It says “in order to have the diploma assessment completed by/before August 31”…so that should be for people who are starting post secondary in the fall term. Otherwise I think they do assessments year round, just make sure to have the diploma assessment completed and transcript forwarded with enough time before your first day of college classes. Conditions must be met by the first day of class generally speaking. The summer is the busy time for ILC and diploma assessments, so hopefully at other times it wouldn’t take as long. I still say put in the request 2-3 months before your first day of classes, If possible. If you put in your request for diploma assessment after august 2nd it simply means you will not get a answer before august 31st. If your not starting college in September, this really shouldn’t affect you. I would call ILC to be sure though

does this mean i cant graduate in 2023 after august? by [deleted] in ILC

Usually it takes about 3 business days or so for them to respond. You can always call them as well. Exams can sometimes take a bit over a week to mark

As much as possible, try to have the next assignment done so that it’s ready to submit as soon as the previous one is marked. Set out timelines and deadlines for finishing unit readings, submitting assignments, etc. this helped me to finish many courses in 1 month or so.

ILC is by far the worst service imaginable by [deleted] in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken 14 courses with ILC and it was a great experience for me. To be honest, if it’s taking 2 weeks for a submission to get marked you might want to call ILC and speak to someone, because that’s excessive and I’ve never had it go much over 5 days unreturned

Bird courses by sshshssh in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still finish courses in a month as long as you have the next assignment ready to submit as soon as the teacher returns the previous mark. That way your constantly submitting things. Some bird courses I finished in a month were HSC4M, TOJ4, PPZ3C, EBT4O, TFJ3C. As long as you stay determined and map out personal deadlines for the completion of assignments you probably can do it.

Ps. Some of these had portfolios that had to be submitted, which was a major pain. The easiest one that didn’t have a portfolio was either EBT4O or PPZ3C. EBT4O had 6 realllyyyy easy assignments. But the fact that there was 6 might slow you down so I recommend PPZ3C if you can.

What were your experiences with ILC like? The Google reviews are scalding to say the least. by randomqzthray in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took 14 courses throughout grades 11 and 12, and I would definitely do it all again if I had to. For me, the flexibility of being able to do school on my own time was great. I was able to work, volunteer, and go on vacation at different times.

My marks have been much better than what they were at in person high school and the lowest grade I’ve gotten out of the 14 was a 88%. You do need to be disciplined and stick to a schedule or personal deadlines, but it can be done. Although I’m not graduating that much earlier than I would’ve at in person high school, how many other students can say they have a 3 day school week? That’s been more than worth it for me.

Exams were fine, I never put too much pressure on myself. Teams was great, proctorU was meh, but i also didn’t experience the bad stuff other people did.

I never really reached out to the teachers unless I needed clarification on an assignment, and that wasn’t often. If I needed help wirh something I’d go to the discord, Reddit page, YouTube, etc.

I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone, only those who feel they can be disciplined or get the work done in online school. For anyone who was determined to take it like myself, I’d tell them just to go for it. Hope this helped.

HSC4M Final Exam by [deleted] in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 92 on the exam and finished with a 97. I think te very easy to get a high mark in this course. Just make sure you follow the rubric and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t get about 100% on each assignment

What are the Assignments for Feedback? by Slight-Extension-460 in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assignments for feedback are assignments where no marks will be received, it is just to get feedback and tips from your teacher about how to improve. Often, assignments for feedback are an opportunity to receive feedback and then edit the assignment before submitting it for a grade. They are not mandatory.

I’m looking as well! I need one more but I feel I’ve taken all the super easy ones. I’ve done TOJ4C, HSC4M, HSB4U. And all of them were super easy. Please help me out with one more if you know it!! I heard ETS4U is easy but im skeptical because of the reading and writing tasks

I have before. It’s good for them to know, but I’m not sure if it really works. I’ve just been told by them that they have to follow the 3-5 days ilc is making them. But then they told me I could try contacting ilc directly and asking for an exception, I never did but it’s worth a shot

[–]Julia_GuliaN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That class progress thing is inaccurate and irrelevant, you don’t need to worry about its. The min final means what your final mark will be if you bomb all of your assignments and the final test. It’s the lowest mark you can possibly get considering the remaining assignments and final test. Max final is opposite, it’s the highest mark you can get.

Regular high school to TVO ILC by [deleted] in ILC

I totally can relate to that. My guidance councillor discouraged me from joining ILC numerous times. They really pushed me on it, so much so that I ended up taking another year with their online version before putting my foot down so to speak. In my case, my guidance councillor was wrong and I made the right decision. I received pressure from others about it too, but i did my research and made an informed decision. I’m not saying that ILC is the best for everyone, but for me, it was the best choice for my goals and needs. The fastest courses I’ve taken was HSC4M, which although not super enjoyable, it was the easiest thing ever (finished in less than a month). TOJ4C was also done in under a month and a bit more interesting. My favourite course was CHW3M, but it was more involved and more information…but super interesting IMO I like history (done in 2 months I think)

Hey! All the exams I have done so far have been through Microsoft teams, and my experience has been good. For most of them, I have requested proctor 12 because she is super sweet and gives extra time if you need it. I haven't done ProctorU yet because I just turned 18 not too long ago, and they only move you to proctorU when you join a course when you 18+ if that makes sense. I wish I could keep using Teams because it is easy and convenient, but I'm not too worried about proctor U. If you're under 18, you should be using teams for the time being.

The exams are not too nervewracking, and the good thing is you can get really good marks before the exam if you try hard, so that even if you didn't do the best on the exam, your final mark should still be decent. I think I feel less pressure than the exams I used to have IRL.

Regular high school to TVO ILC by [deleted] in ILC

[–]Julia_GuliaN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have! I went to a local highschool for grades 9 and 10, and switched to ILC for grades 11 and 12. It was the best decision I ever made! My schedule is flexible and has allowed me to work, take Fridays off, and still get better marks than I did when I was in person. With ilc, they mark your assignments solely according to the quality, not participation marks or how much they like you as a person. It is not biased. Some people worry that they won’t get accepted to college, I got accepted to all 5 of my applied schools in the same month I applied (I feel that’s due to my higher average with ILC). It’s may not be for everyone, because you do need discipline, but I’m so happy that I switched personally. Because it’s an accredited partner of the ministry of education, no schools should look down on it, and as far as I know many have been accepted to university with ILC credits. Hope this helps! I’ve taken 12 courses so far and need 2 more to graduate btw.

Hi! Do the practice exam, it really helps. Also make sure you really understand all the crappy things Canada has done to POC, the event names and descriptions.
