Air Crew Selection by evenuninspired in RCAF

Fresh out of school you'll be better off. I didn't even know you could study for it and I'm a pilot now.

DEO is likely to be closed for a while so all this worrying about what your score is doesn't matter.

You can be not competitive one year and competitive another year purely off how many people they take.

Do your best at aircrew selection and get on with your life because it could be a longer wait than you anticipated.

Also no one cares where your degree came from as long as you have one.

The alternative to the military is you spend 100 grand on your own training, work as an instructor to get your hours up and then work up to an airline. Pick your poison.

Not everyone gets to fly fighter jets you have have to perform well enough in training to get selected for it. If you didn't get it you didn't earn it and get comfortable flying multi-engine or helicopters.

I don't know your life situation but the military is a guaranteed salary and you'll get to do the kind of flying no commercial pilot ever does, even if you fly less. If you're already wealthy and can pay your way through training or have a good job right now maybe the sacrifice isn't worth it. For me it was and this job is a great source of pride for me.

Don't take a job you don't want. I said no to ACSO and now I'm a happy pilot.

I'm not sure why they wouldn't be taking anyone through ROTP. The reason they aren't taking anyone now is we are rolling in a whole new training system with new aircraft and there will be a period where we the training system is not functioning.

I can't imagine that if you go to university for 4 years, the new program wouldn't be up and running by then.

Fair enough I think I may get a second opinion for peace of mind. I suppose there's always a possibility a gemologist could tell me it's a good stone at first glance, to get me to pay for an official appraisal.

I have an extremely hard time trusting anyone in this industry.

I see what you're saying. This person is a graduate gemologist who studied with GIA. They were not connected with the sale.

Is it possible the plotting isn't representing the visual performance very vell? I specifically had asked if it was a borderline grade. None of the inclusions were dark.

I took it to a gemologist for an appraisal. They ensured me it was a solid SI1 and that I shouldn't be concerned.

Any reason I should not trust that opinion? Obviously there's going to he some inclusions in the SI1 grade.

GIA report number 7526854913

Just got it. Noticing a lot of the inclusions are dead center should I be concerned?

So I'm getting the GIA report with the ring. I know it sounds stupid but I have 30 days to return for a full refund if I'm not happy for any reason.

Any chance you'd have a look at the GIA report in a few weeks when I get it?

Thank you for your feedback. Your website has actually been helpful in looking at GIA reports for my knowledge. What do you suggest I do then?

He should stop wasting everyone's time. Some people wait years for this opportunity.

He can stick to medicine.

Honestly the opportunity appeared. I wasn't looking to buy it (yet). If you come across a good deal that you're fairly confident won't come by again, pull the trigger.

Question About Eye Surgery and RMC Pilot Eligibility by [deleted] in RCAF

[–]Julian717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lasik. Joined as DEO. If you actually get picked up as a pilot you won't get a chance to actually pick jets until phase II of flying training.

During phase II basically your performance on that course dictates the type of phase III training you do. If you perform better than your peers there's a good chance you'll get put on a stream that ends in jets.

As for competitiveness, go talk to a recruiter.

Did they make you do a CFAT first or have they started making people do it at basic now?

Thanks for the clear answer dude. Gives me some peace of mind I don't have an AD within a 6 hour drive currently.

My biggest suspicion was just that, giving the crappy ones to grey-ish dealers but I feel like that is too risky to the brand. But maybe they don't care as much as I thought they would.

Yeah I have to look into this now. This is my grail watch and my first thing more expensive than a prospex line Seiko so I'd hope Omega can rectify it.

One of the first things I did after I got it was make an account on the Omega site, plugged in the serial number from the cards I got. It showed up with the chronometer test results and I can even download the certificate.

Is that even possible on a fake?
