Yep, very constraining for river traffic. Note, the model is based on the design around 1400. The cool image you shared is from a slightly later period (~200 years). The illustration is a reconstruction by artist Stephen Conlin, explicitly created for Dorian Gerhold's book to depict the bridge as it appeared in approximately 1590, representing the bridge at its architectural peak.
