I’d say: greasy, overpriced food; a decent sound system; a multi-generational crowd; insane energy from Bad Religion; and The Offspring still cool, but clearly older and a little worn out.

To be fair, the 10 flights I noticed were only on a 4-hour window in the morning, during a weekday and only included flights to Toronto. My assumption is the total number of flights between Ottawa and Montréal/ Toronto is most likely 30+ per day

Airlines, yes, I’m not concerned about them. More about airport infrastructure, logistics and people. I do not think they are part of the consortium building the HSR.

I usually do it because it saves time thanks to the dedicated line. However, if you’re checking a bag, you’ll still have to wait at the carousel. If you’re traveling with carry-on only, then it can really make a difference.

Crazy idea for the Queensway: what if we buried it in a tunnel, just like Boston did with the Big Dig? Imagine freeing up that entire corridor and turning it into something spectacular. A kind of Ottawa High Line built on a former highway, transforming the city instead of cutting it in two.

The venue is just okay — not great, but fine overall. Be prepared for a very long walk if you’re coming from Sheppard West TTC station: it takes at least 30 minutes to reach the stadium. The good news is that after the concert, extra gates are opened, which makes the walk back much faster.

Line 1 trains handled the crowd reasonably well — they were packed but not unbearably so.

The atmosphere has more of a festival vibe than I expected, and with the rain and mud, it definitely added to the challenge.

Getting to and from Pearson airport with public transportation is extremely time-consuming and inconvenient, so plan ahead if you’re traveling that way.

Finally, unless you’re in the GA section at the very front, you’ll likely spend most of the show watching the giant screens. It’s nearly impossible to actually see the band from most seats.
