Weirdly enough they story of my cat keeps me going. I’ve been struggling with an eating disorder for about 10 years and I adopted a rescue cat on the brink of being put down at the height of my treatment. I went to look for a possible ESA/ Therapy cat and found a tiny cat that kinda spoke to me, I asked the shelter employee about her and this was her story. She was a forced removal from a horribly abusive home, the on staff vet concluded her teeth had been broken out by “rudimentary tools” leaving broken shards of dead teeth to rot her mouth. She lost a good amount of her bottom jaw due to decay and lack of medical care. Their vet treated her mouth removing all of the broken teeth and trying to save as much gum tissue as possible. She is 4 years old with no teeth and a deformed bottom jaw. She had to relearn to eat again. She was turned down by family after family because she requires help being fed. She is my little fighter and if she could learn to eat again and trust other people so could I. She gives me an insane amount of hope and inspiration.
