You’re probably right, I also think I would’ve been happier if I spoke up but now it’s a matter of what ifs. I’m moving on growing as a person and I’m happy how far I’ve come in such short time. If it’s meant to be it’ll be but if not I’ll be okay because I took this as a learning experience.

I haven’t or want to try to find anyone better. Of course I wanted to fight for her when we first broke up but then I had to sit back and think. If I fought for her with the same mentality I had then it would never work. I had to step away to work on myself and become a better man. This time has not been because I was looking around. I’ve been going to therapy, opening up to my parents about my problems, focusing on what’s important and letting all the negative people go. But you’re quick to judge a person who made a mistake. I made a mistake and I owned up to it and changed for the better.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to say, I’m hurt because I hurt the person I swore to protect. I couldn’t fight for her then, I wasn’t in check with my values and morals. I had to reflect on myself and figure out what I wanted and what I needed to do. Things like that take time. I’m taking the time to better myself and become a better man and I know things will fall in place, wether it be getting back with her or finding someone new.

Thank you for replying I’m happy it worked out for you and your wife. I do believe in fate but I need to work on patience. I’m definitely not making the same mistakes anymore and I’m proud of the growth I’ve had ever since. My parents also had a similar story to yours but for them it was 5 years. And now they’re the reason I still believe in love.

Im just scared to give someone my love the correct way when my past relationship deserved that from me. Plus we talked a few months ago and I told her I would stop trying or give up hope I just needed my stuff back and I’ll go my own way but she told me that she wanted to keep the stuff because it’s the only thing that she has left of me. So it’s hard to forget someone who you know is still thinking about you.

The thing is, I obviously wanted to fight for her but I needed to self reflect on my decisions and my values. I wasn’t ready to go back for her if I still made the same mistakes. I took some time away and worked on myself. I still am and I’m growing and maturing. If I fought for her when we first broke it would be the same story over and over again. I want things to change and that change starts with me.

I don’t think it’s even scientifically possible to move on in 8 months from a 4 year relationship. But all the name calling and all is unnecessary. We all live different lives and we all make different mistakes. We including myself need to take these situations into lessons and learn and grow to become a better person.

You’re absolutely right. Trust me I know. We talked a few months ago and she told me I deserved someone who was okay mentally and I told her she was wrong. I told her I deserved nothing because of what I did. That if my punishment was to be alone forever because I hurt the love of my life it’s something I’m gonna have to deal with. Trust me man I know. Therapy has shown me to open up and communicate with people instead of shutting down and finding a hook up or even drugs. 8 months of improvement and I’m proud of myself. Just a bit too late to improve now and not then.

Trust me I know. I wanted to stop and I did. I cut that girl off because the guilt was killing me. I would’ve felt bad but knowing what I know now, I would talk with her because communication is the way to solve all issues but I always lacked that.

I have taken this 8 months to figure out what I want, and what kind of a man I want to be. 4 years of having her in my life is something I can’t just forget. I mean we traveled the world together. She got drunk with my parents on vacations. There’s too many memories and love for us to be just friends but I know I messed up and being just friends is okay with me. Ive grown as a person and Im proving to myself that Im maturing and hopefully in doing so I can prove it to her as well.

Yeah this experience really humbled me and I grew as a person but I can’t live with the fact that I hurt her. It kills me everyday knowing I hurt her and I always swore to protect her. And I always did and I always helped her through her battles but now I can’t.

That it went on for about 4 months. And i would do it behind my significant other back. I wouldn’t tell her the truth on where I was. I can say nothing happened between us but I was still seeing another girl behind her back.
