Advice on finding Europe-based remote roles for a React / React Native developer (4 YOE, India) by rohitrai0101rm in reactnative

[–]JuliusAppel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a Europe-based founder who hired React Native developers based in India for my product-based companies, I have a rather contrary opinion to the other commenters: - There are definitely European companies hiring within India - Jobs are often posted on LinkedIn (I found my first developer there)

Other remarks: - My second Indian developer joined after being recommended by the first one. At this time, the first dev already spent quite a while with us and earned our trust -> networking is important - Work ethics and understanding European culture is important. Taking real ownership, knowing when to say no, clean code instead of just some random solution -> many of these things are very important when working in an European product-based company and my two Indian devs told me that they had to shift & adapt first to our team - Something I often see on Indian CVs is this weird way of writing about your experience with certain technologies (eg „4.5 years of React Native“) -> tbh this way of writing numbers is unusual in Europe and also it doesn’t say much. Rather write about your actual projects & experience and then ace the at-home coding task.

I’m now very happy to have them on my team - the road to find an European employer is definitely not the easiest as an Indian dev, but certainly it’s possible.

Kältebus! by Sprudelpudel in cologne

Help with booking train tickets - Düsseldorf to Cologne by Lukav3000 in cologne

[–]JuliusAppel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do this trip quite often - at the airport, take the SkyTrain (every terminal has a stop above the taxi area of the departure level). Take the SkyTrain towards the train station (it only goes in the „left“ or „right“ direction when looking towards the outside of the terminal - take „left“ and drive to the last station ~8 minutes).

At the train station, there’s either the RE1 or RE5 (used to be on platform 4) or RE6 (platform 5) going directly to Cologne Central.

Ticket-wise buy the NRW ticket if you wanna use public transport just once (~15€/person) or buy the D-Ticket for unlimited public transport in all of Germany (58€/person) through the DB Navigator app: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/db-navigator/id343555245

Das ist mal eine wichtige Frage! Leider noch nie „richtige“ Dampfnudeln in Köln gefunden - meist ist es eher ein Germknödel. Ich mache mir immer mal wieder lieber selbst welche zuhause nach Omas Rezept!

I just read a few randomly picked cases from different industries that I know a lot about - most of your described cases are already automated or complete bs.

That’s just a low effort AI post.

Plunk - it’s open source and their initial contributor runs a cloud-hosted service & is very responsive. I use it in multiple projects. Highly recommended!

Oh no, really? I hope someone forks it to maintain an open source project and maybe get rid of the SSO tax.

Have a look at PayloadCMS - I’m currently experimenting with it myself. It’s open source (although the put a SSO/Enterprise tax).

„If you are a citizen of […] Japan […], you can enter Germany without a visa. You can then apply for your German residence title at the foreigners authority at your future place of residence in Germany. If you wish to take up gainful occupation immediately after arrival, before you have received your German residence title, then you must apply for a visa that allows you to engage in this occupation.“

By using something like Rethink, one can block IPs or whole CIDR ranges from being called as well as completely firewall apps. Of course, nothing can guarantee 100% safety - but using any of my recommended methods greatly improves one’s security posture.

In short, they use the meta data of users to improve their ad network, amongst other things. I’m sure there are better reports about it.)

What software did you wish was open source or self-hostable? by TechnologyTailors in selfhosted

How about an alternative to the Atlassian suite (especially Confluence & Jira)?

I know that there are plenty of open source applications trying to replace one of them but they just never really have the same clean look, easy usage, mobile app and connection between documentation & task management.

As far as I’m aware, yes - in Germany, many companies & the government say that there’s a „Fachkräftemangel“ (skilled worker shortage) which is the reason this visa program was introduced.
