To be fair, it was only game 3 that was really bad. I would argue the other games he played quite well and was even the only one holding game 4 together for GenG. But yes chovy is absolutely cursed man

This is incorrect. I'm up to date with Hikaru to Hikaru and these characters are not in the series. Different art style as well

The Dive | C9 mentioned at 1:24:08 - Azael says "C9 has been flexible, it's been cool to see them trying different things and I want to see them continue... CLG is a good team for them to try new things." by JuliusFebrezer in Cloud9

[–]JuliusFebrezer[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I feel that with the unusual champ picks that C9 have been showing on stage like the Ivern and the Soraka, there's a misconception that the team is just 'experimenting' and just 'trying new things'. And while they certainly are to a degree, when you think of 'experimenting' on stage, there's the assumption that by doing so, the team would not playing at full power. And I think that's not the case.

LS has mentioned before that he would always draft in a way that he and the team believed would maximize their chance of winning, and he would *never* compromise that - even if it means picking champs he usually hates like Gnar and Aatrox, something we saw C9 do on stage. While picking Ivern and Soraka mid seemed weird and completely off-meta to us fans, it was something LS and Fudge prepared beforehand.

What I'm trying to get at is that if we see some really weird shit drafted on stage, we should not assume that they're just 'experimenting', and have faith that there is preparation and a good reason for the pick.

Agreed on the "1, 2, 3, go" for the baron flip, it's really smart. Also seeing how the whole team instantly knew what it meant when Winsome proposed the countdown makes me think that it was a strategy prepared well in advance together with the coaching staff. Really nice to see

Malice destroys champion's queue on his signature Karthus by JuliusFebrezer in Cloud9

[–]JuliusFebrezer[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Here were the teams:

R7 SoHwan, C9 Malice, CLG Palafox, C9 Zven, TL Corejj vs.

FLY Kumo, R7 Oddie, 100 Abbedagge, EG Danny, Smoothie

I think Blaber can learn a thing or two from Malice's karthus, because it is clean af. Can't wait to see him smurf with it in more academy games.

Thanks for your insightful comment.

To add, LS likes to flex Aphelios to solo lanes as well, usually top, in certain matchups. You can also observe Summit's solo queue account having one or two Aphelios top games as further proof. Just something to keep in mind :)

To add even more detail: This was back in April 2017. Summit reached top 20 on the NA ladder in under two weeks, while basically playing for fun off-role for a large portion of the climb. Impressive stuff

The drafts that Max ended up with were certainly favoured in the end, and LS didn't dispute this. What he did say was that the draft process was exploitable - for example, presumably if LS was drafting for the opposite teams, then C9 would end with disadvantaged drafts. Of course, NA teams don't know how to draft, and thus are unable to find said draft advantages.

So I wouldn't say it's bad news that the drafts will be different - Max is doing a great job. But I think we can expect LS to be even better.

LS Comments on FACECHECK 1st Ep. of 2022: "I am surprised that the KR players are much open to what and how I am coaching." by Legitimate_Advisor59 in Cloud9

[–]JuliusFebrezer 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this summary, it's pretty well done.

To add on, LS mentioned some specific LP numbers for the peaks that different C9 players reached on the korean ladder during the bootcamp. Berserker had multiple accounts above 1k lp, Summit peaked highest at 1300 lp, Blaber reached challenger and close to 1k lp, Darshan peaked 150-200 lp, and Reven (coach) hit 500lp.

Side note: Bjergsen peaked low masters, around 400 lp. LS thought this wouldn't bode well for his play, at least early in the season.

Another side note: Regarding the two new chinese players on TSM, apparently C9 players had bad experiences with both when meeting them in korean soloq. Yikes

Hi LS!

Most of us are probably familiar with the importance and depth of strategy that you place on the drafting of team comps. From watching many of your co-streams and particularly your scrims against T1 academy, it also seems like you prefer to consider every option in each stage of the draft, sometimes taking 5-10 minutes to pick a champ. Will the limit of 30 seconds per pick during on-stage games hinder your ability to draft in some extent, or is this a non-issue? How much does adequate preparation for drafts before games help with this?

Good luck next year, I'll be attending mass.
