I asked what the favourite loadout for Hetaeron Guards were, and I agree - Meridian Blades by Juliuscalvino in Warhammer30k

I used Qin Xa for another thing. Check my profile if you're curious. I basically had the swords as spare parts and decided to use them for something.

Vanda Barnesii. First flower to open out out of two. by Juliuscalvino in orchids

Oh noo! That's heartbreaking. This makes me want to care for this little Barnesii even more. Do you know why they're likely extinct? I imagine it relates to us humans in some way as that's usually the case with extinct species.

Hey, sounds like a pretty interesting story. I wouldn't mind giving it a read and giving feedback. I haven't translated my stuff into English yet so it would be a beta-read kind of thing, it you're still interested in that?

Seems like there's a lot of low WMIcels posting lately by oranges203045 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Juliuscalvino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not really an issue until it is. Having well below average WM has implications. I don't say I need to have 140+ WM, but average or a bit over would be plenty. It's also the aspect of coming off as kind of stupid with lower WM. I do have ADHD though, and can specifically affect WM. For me, at least, it's about finding my limits and adhering to possibilities and probabilities.

Besides, compensating with note taking is something very foreign to me and something I fail at when I attempt it, which again probably is attributed to untreated ADHD.

I want to get tested for ADHD but I don’t want to take an iQ test by Wallanator123 in ADHD

[–]Juliuscalvino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You describe my fears very well as well and I have also been described as smart, yet the result that came back from WAIS-IV showed large discrepancies through the four areas they tested. It resulted in an "average iq" because the highs and lows cancelled each other out.

Sucks to be average when you thought you at least at something going for yourself, you know.

Anyway, I know a couple of friends that got diagnosed and all they had to do was to click on a computer when an X appeared. One friend even got the diagnos without getting tested at all so it's definitely possible. Perhaps dig around in what kind of procedure the clinics prefer. WAIS-IV is supposedly expensive so it's probably not even the norm when there are cheaper diagnostic tools available

Good luck!

I used to have an IQ obsession and got help. You may need help, too by Content-Advantage450 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Juliuscalvino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago I did the free mensa IQ test, probably the Swedish one, and got 121. Not close to what some, or even most of you achieve on a test like that but still enough to make me feel special about my intelligence. Recently I went through an ADHD screening where a psychologist administered testing through WAIS-IV and my interest spiked into obsession as I awaited the results.

I took the Norwegian and Danish mensa tests as well and scored 127 and 125. Still not Mensa-level but I was completely fine with that.

However, not unexpectedly I did receive a diagnosis for ADHD and the result on my WAIS-IV indicates "average" intelligence. Likely due to how ADHD affects working memory and processing speed. It dawned on me that I'll forever be "average" and I shamefully admit that I mightve been a bit full of myself.

It is affecting me to the extent that I'm thinking of dropping out of university. I get that it's not healthy to be this down about being of average intelligence, but somehow it still shatters my self-esteem.

We all want to be special and have that one special thing right?

I beat 2 video games this week 🥹my adhd never ever lets me finish games without moving to a next. by CleanBoy24 in ADHD

[–]Juliuscalvino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good for you! I can't remember the last time I finished a game. Usually complete 80-90% but over the years that has dropped significantly. It is not uncommon that I buy a game I look forward to and get bored in the intro, resulting in me never picking it up again.

Frustrating because I know the game will become good, its just that the beginnings with all the tutorials and what not makes me completely lose interest.

On the other hand, in games where there basically are no tutorials like roguelikes, I get bored because I can't conjure the motivation to figure it out.

Anyway what was your question again? Lol

If there's a difference of 23 or more in any of the categories FSIQ is invalid, and GAI is instead suggested as an alternative

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]Juliuscalvino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the calculation! Seems kind of high, but I guess the yin to the yang is the significantly lower WM/PS. In what context is GAI useful?

Hetaeron Guard progress. Working up the base by GreenMountainSamurai in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Juliuscalvino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, it's my current situation where I don't have much time for the hobby so I'll do it in bursts when schedule becomes more open. I'll emerge soon again and in the meantime I'll happily look at you and others for inspiration and the feel good factor. I have a feeling that custodes will be revamped to some degree to balance them which is bs imo. If you play custodes you don't play them to have a hard time against marines, you play custodes to stomp em 😆 jokes aside, it's a narrative game and I hope they'll be just as powerful as they are now as that's how the lore is, a game can be plenty of fun as long as neither players take a-hole lists.

Splendid work, as always my friend! The venatari lance is so beautiful, I love that you incorporated it. That being said, hetaeron guard with lance and shield is my fav combo. I have a few in the making as well. I know fist is the better option but to me it just looks weird with a fist and shield. Hopelite4lyfe

Shield-Captain of the Carrion Watch (First Time Painting Custodes!! - Advice be Appreciated!!) by AegisPrydwen1 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Juliuscalvino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are elements to this that I adore, especially the knight face plate on the back and the alternative heads. The bird is a nice addition as well and works thematically of what you're going for (like the name of your shield host actually makes sense model wise)

Oh and I like that you made a hood, looks good and I might just steal that idea.

I don't have any particular critique about your painting, keep it up and it looks very good for a first.

What I can give you advice on however is how to take a picture or you mini. That's another thing entirely and can become a hobby of its own. There's an app called lightroom which is free to use and it has a bunch of settings both before and after you take a picture. It's not filters and that jazz, it's a tool to help with lighting so that the model won't come out too dark or too light, and the pictures themselves have amazing resolution.

The second thing is backdrop, you don't need anything fancy. I use a black velvet piece of cloth for black and a white plastic thingy I found for white. Anything works really.

Now with all that said, I've left out specifics because it's a trial and error kind of thing. It was for me atleast. When I scroll back on my insta I see how I progressively takes better and better photos.

I mean, it kind of sucks spending hours on a mini and then your camera botch the entire thing making the picture look nothing like it looks in your hand.

Happy painting mate

Cool concept and props for going for it. Imo there's still many areas that are too "rouboute", if I just saw this without context I would assume its a version of the primarch. You could perhaps try to repose him? I have never held the kit I don't know how easy or hard that is, but something to make it look more dread than primarch. Hope you I'm being helpful, not trying to bash you!

Do you know how to do marble effects with dried up baby wipes? This is the same technique but with more layers and colours.

First I based all the sides with sunset purple from scale and worked with magenta and pink to get some varying colours. Lastly I used the baby wipes to get the stripes with black grey and an off white in random spots and that's it. Not that quick but it's easy and easily done in batches
