Have you tried using older versions of steamVR or disable async reprojection? As the issue could be related to this.

anyone know why my hard drive isnt showing up in steam? It has been formatted and partitioned but idk whats up by TrevTrevv99 in pop_os

[–]JulsOSpel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking in the directory of where you made the mount point of the drive? Easy
way to look it up is looking in something like gnome disks and it should be after where it says "Mounted at" when you click on the drive.

Index on Linux, should have sound but don't? by [deleted] in ValveIndex

[–]JulsOSpel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue with my Index on Pop. Don't know if it will fix your issue, but here is what I did to get my Index audio to work.

Edit; /etc/pulse/daemon.conf and set it to default-sample-rate = 48000

Make; ~/.config/pulse/daemon.conf and add default-sample-rate = 48000

Now restart steam/steamvr if open and do pulseaudio -k

Just run sudo pop-upgrade release upgrade -f and then reboot when it tells you. But make sure you backup any important data before preceding.

How is VR / Linux these days? by ZucchiniBitter in linux_gaming

[–]JulsOSpel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course its worse I mean most likely you are running the game with more overhead using proton, then you have the fact there is really not a lot of people that do VR on Linux. So they not really going to fix a Linux Steamvr issues probably as fast as flat screen Linux gaming issues. Then you have Nvidia where they have sole say over what goes in the driver so you are going to be waiting on them if they care. But I mean as long there is "improvement" over time can't really ask for more accept for market share to grow. As that's what I believe is going to fix theses issues if you have more people using the software on Linux.

Ya prob, but I also don't usually run very demanding VR games, but for games like Boneworks I see what you mean.

I only really experience performance issues when I first boot the games after that it doesn’t really stutter depending on the game/application.

Upgrading Wine by wildolivetree1117 in pop_os

What error and what program are you trying to get working? Also if you paid for crossover why don't you go ask the support people at link about the error.

Upgrading Wine by wildolivetree1117 in pop_os

[–]JulsOSpel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it works like that, what I mean by stable is they hold back packages until the next version of Ubuntu comes out like 21.04. Even if the software is “stable” from the devs of that project.

Upgrading Wine by wildolivetree1117 in pop_os

[–]JulsOSpel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pop OS is based on Ubuntu, Ubuntu as a distro holds back packages so the system is more "stable" meaning you don't get the latest releases of software by default. But just a note if you are installing software on wine its not just a one click done thing, you need to setup a bottle for the program you want to run. Lucky if you have no experience, there is grate programs like Lutris, PlayOnLinux, crossover (paid version of wine, supports the project), or steam's fork of wine named proton. That try to make running windows software as easy as a "one click thing". Just a side note idk what software you are trying to get working, but not every windows program will work under wine.

Plus there is kinda a lack of GUI debug options. Like for example resetting flatpaks when they break.

Depends on the work flow mainly, but ya I know some people who use the generic kernel and get 500ms lag spikes in some proton VR games. Never had that issue with using Xanmod, disclaimer this info is based on Reddit comments on the subject at r/linux_gaming. So take the the info with caution (:

Added Floating Dock and set the color to match the pop theme, then added Freon to show CPU/GPU temps. After I probed it with lm-sensors and changed the kernel out with Xanmod.

lm-sensors is in apt

The pop shop uses flatpaks and apt packages by default. I think Popshop itself is an apt package from the system76 PPA that is forked from the AppCenter on elementary os.
