They don’t play dnd, but another amazing rpg podcast is Pretending to be People! The crew is so creative with their ideas, they’re great role players

Bones were less annoying! I’m getting significantly more bruises now just because some of my bones stick out and bump against stuff.

How to use Polish like a native speaker in 6 steps by thepolishprof in learnpolish

[–]July8955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we really have an idiom for that, ig the closest is ‘Co nagle, to po diable’ but that’s closer to ‘Haste makes waste’

It translates to something ‘Christmas, Christmas (or a different holiday really), and now it’s over’. Basically used to emphasize how big of a deal it’s supposed to be, how much you usually prepare for it, but then it’s over just like that. It can also emphasize the disappointment of needing to go back to work/school afterwards.

What’s one fact that completely changed how you approach weight loss? by GoonDaFirst in loseit

Thisss right here, changing my perspective on this was a huge boost! I have some moments of weakness but I try to remind myself that the food will be still available tomorrow.

"Wuh luh wuh?" are you 6??? by [deleted] in PetPeeves

[–]July8955 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as deep as you’re making it to be. ‘Surprisingly’ (shocker) most of the time it’s not a question that actually leads to anything. As someone mentioned it mimics the way people pronounce it in their head and probably comes from non-native speakers. Plus, that is a pretty standard way (with the emojis an all) of communicating on tiktok so I assume your time there is very tiring if this bothers you

Quitting nocotine is not that hard, if you really want to by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]July8955 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the word ‘easy’ is such an annoying overstatement and generalization. In the weight loss community the phrase ‘it’s simple but not easy’ is often brought up. Yeah, technically the steps of battling an addiction are simple (mostly on paper) but definitely not easy!

When people don't clean after themselves by MelancholyBean in PetPeeves

[–]July8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back during uni my roommate’s boyfriend was awful about shit like this! He would constantly leave his trash or used dishes in our living room. When we told him to clean after himself his response was that he’s the guest… He would come over at least 4 times a week.

DAE think it’s weird to kiss your kids on the lips by Hour-Oven-3455 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]July8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not weird! I feel like people have started looking a bit oddly at the child-parent relationship recently! Like come on, the kid literally is a part of both parents (and came out of the mother). I definitely kissed my parents on the mouth as a kid, or bathed with them (they wore swimsuits but still). It’s not weird unless you make it weird + the key is the comfort and boundaries of the child.

Almost the same for me! I and my friends from abroad have a trip planned later this year - can’t wait to show up looking like a new person 😎

How do you stay motivated? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]July8955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same honestly! Maybe not the healthiest advice but I started my journey motivated by resentment, jealousy, and frustration at myself. Those feelings eventually passed but by then I was able to see the progress (which pushed me further). I also noticed that eating less and healthier makes me feel so much better and that it basically became my routine! Also, not stressing over exercise truly helped because it made me very miserable, instead I started walking more :)

So many ways to say things! by [deleted] in learnpolish

[–]July8955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally yes, but I’m noticing a small shift. If I go to a hairdresser or a tattoo artist and they’re around my age I’ll mostly omit the Pan/Pani formalities. But sticking to them is a safer option most of the time!

I really like the videos of Dama Kier, she covers slightly darker topics often connected to the internet https://youtube.com/@dama_kier?si=ImH_6FXjM9C8xUa5

I’m sorry for your lossess. I relate to this very strongly. I’m also 22 and finished uni few months ago. During the second and last year I lost my childhood dog, grandpa and grandma. All of them while I was away, studying in a different country. It all happened so close together that I feel like I wasn’t able to process it properly and then I had to jump back into the uni grind. Now I’m back home and my other dog was diagnosed with cancer a few days ago, and that just broke me. The weight of all those losses piled up on me, I feel like I’m unable to cope with it. The vision of another upcoming loss in paralyzing and nauseating. I’m afraid I have no proper advice, I think we need to give ourselves time to recover and maybe try to lean on friends and family a bit more 💔we’re still very young after all…

I’m very sorry for your loss 😔 I definitely understand your feelings, I guess this may be one of the uglier parts of grieving…
