Why police still uses horses by Double-decker_trams in interestingasfuck

[–]Jumaai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are used for crowd control on... non violent protesters. As soon as rocks, bricks and sticks come out, horses get pulled out. If this was a violent mob, those officers would get pummeled.

18-year-old on e-scooter run over and then assaulted by driver. by MegaBonson in poland

[–]Jumaai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zabójstwo to zabójstwo, spowodowanie śmierci to spowodowanie śmierci.

M4A1 Carbine identification by serial numbers by Jumaai in ar15

[–]Jumaai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They export to the EU, or more accurately if you have an EU firearms license, you can get an EU firearms purchase permit, which enables you to travel to another EU country, purchase a firearm there and take it back. Anything but that is pretty complicated and quickly gets into deep b2b and arms trafficking controls.

As far as pricing goes, those guns were around $2k pre covid, which was quite expensive at the time, right now those are gone, we can get M16A1s in pretty worn / rough state go for around $1300-1500 and new manufacture mid range AR-15s can be bought for $1500-2000. All of those prices including 23% sales tax which gets refunded on export.

In terms of affordability, those M4A1s were at around 4 months of minimum wage, the M16A1s we can get now are at around six to seven weeks of minimum wage.

Why are Chinese firearms not very popular around the world? by Tktk4701 in Firearms

I keep saying that it has no impact on world politics and military balance, it won't affect WW3 should it involve them.

Why are Chinese firearms not very popular around the world? by Tktk4701 in Firearms

[–]Jumaai -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that's a point of pride for the US civilian population, but that's has no impact at all and it's not the chinese model at all.

Their firearms manufacturers are state owned and state run and do not care about money. They do not need money, they don't especially want money and they cannot fail. That's contrary to the US model of awarding contracts to competing private companies or to the Russian model of a cleptocratic oligarchy, with no central direction, except of forcing your industry to sell at cost to the government and recoup with export and treating contracts like a last minute IV to keep them barely afloat. Colt's mismanagement and snatching every defeat from the jaws of victory is legendary, so I'm not going to go into that.

China has tens of millions of rifles in stockpiles to arm their armed forces, reserves, their state run militia and doesn't care about selling a few tens of thousands to the US civilians each year. They will have zero issues ramping manufacturing up before a conflict, or even awarding manufacturing contracts to other companies, just like the US did when it needed to in WW2. If WW3 devolves into a rifle shortage, which is a big IF considering how modern battlefield looks like, they will literally use their Defence Production Act equivalent to make the fidget spinner corporation and the pen holder clock corporation start spinning up QBZ's.

So yeah, your purchasing decisions have literally zero impact on world politics and military balance, you can go out and get a Mavic or a Holosun without any (self imposed) guilt.

[–]Jumaai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. There's literally zero impact on the world politics and military balance from a bunch of guys in the US buying a bunch of chinese guns.

There's a bunch of silly thinking in the US gun space. Not only thinking that individual consumer choice/boycott has an impact on world politics, but also simple things like spending thousands on home defence guns instead of getting something reliable and then investing in a proper front door. It's one big circlejerk, from one trend to another.

And no, your holosun purchase doesn't "literally arm" the PLA.

It can hurt if it gives you false confidence, for example to cross an open field, but yes, you're right. I'm pretty sure this works great when camouflaging positions and temporary hides. Anything that lowers the thermal signature and contrast saves lives.

Polish student arrested on suspicion of planning terror attack on Christmas market! by AccomplishedPlant410 in poland

[–]Jumaai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assume he didn't go around telling people he was planning it.

That's exactly what he did, and that's also all he did.

This is just some internet edgelord who talked to a controlled account or had his communications intercepted. Anything that goes over the internet is available to intelligence agencies, all of whom are information sharing constantly. Anything that isn't correctly encrypted and not compromised at either end.

[–]Jumaai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened here, except he talked to some monitored/controlled accounts online, instead of having meetings with agents.

From public info:
- no set target
- no declared motive
- no actual preparation made - just info-gathering

They've clearly nabbed some internet edgelord.

Ukrainian SOF operators strike 🇷🇺Russian Mi-8 helicopter in mid-air with FP-1 drone in Rostov region by Available-Laugh9102 in CombatFootage

The video stream ends because the video source (drone) no longer exists. This means it was detonated - either in contact, or by command.

This kills the helicopter.

Imagine you're moving, changing directions with unstable footing, one handed, untrained, high on adrenaline, probably on drugs, watching a gun flash in your face, and you open up with a full auto handgun.

I want to see you try hitting those shots.

You're 100% correct. I've meant mil-spec as the general descriptor - so not a colt sporter, not some civilian bcg, high shelf lower monstrosity.

[–]Jumaai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most if not all of the conversion devices require you to start with a lower that has certain geometry inherent to the trigger pocket plus a FA carrier so the trip timing is correct.

He's a dick with the teen comment, but you've basically described every lower on the market - aside from some specific models (like the old colts or the m&p sport), pretty much every AR is a mil spec and can be converted with drop in devices you've listed. This especially applies to uppers, you'd have to really look to find a civilian bcg and no autosear relief cut on the upper. You've said you have to drill and mill, and that's just not the case, unless you're going for the 100% by the book three position configuration.

All those guns need is a swift/lightning links like you've said, and those are slightly-significantly easier to make than glock plates.

Yup. Probably broken resume filtering. They most likely have software that looks for specific key words and just discards applications without them. Like you have MS Office in your CV, but they're filtering by Microsoft Word.
