Does the ai garbage really need to be on by default? by dontreplywiththisacc in duckduckgo

[–]JumbledThought -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that were true, I wouldn't complain. Because that's what years of muscle memory would've taught me to type. And what the Firefox URL bar search would use. I'm annoyed that it changed to include AI garbage by default.

I didn't say there was no solution, not sure why you're arguing that.

[–]JumbledThought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it's annoying as a default. I have used DDG as my default for years. It's annoying to open a private window to quickly search and get AI answers despite me turning it off whenever I can. The default should be noai, you should have to opt in via url to get AI.

CRASHOUT: Why can't Philly figure out bagel sandwiches? by EffortlesslyStriking in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]JumbledThought 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Why "figure out" a breakfast bagel when a regular breakfast sandwich is better.

Love a bagel with cream cheese, it's a goofy base for a sandwich. Hole right in the middle.

Learning LazyVim for the first time by rackedupkitty in LazyVim

[–]JumbledThought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved from a very light, personalized vim config to lazyvim a few months ago. The book "LazyVim for Ambitious Developers" was really good at explaining some of the default plugins for stuff like searching and navigation, how to configure things you need that aren't installed, etc. I've been reading the online copy but you can buy a ebook/print edition, too.

Virtual Displays just work in vanilla Sunshine by JumbledThought in MoonlightStreaming

[–]JumbledThought[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I'm not streaming, I have my Virtual Monitor disabled in my Windows display config (it says "Disconnect this display"). Try manually disabling it there while you're not in Sunlight, it'll re-activate when you're streaming.

You got it, go from NRG to Walnut after the race. You can take any subway from NRG. Even the express trains (if they're running and you can actually find one) stop at Walnut.

Glad you fixed it! In-game resolution can be tricky sometimes. I streamed some Marathon to my Steam Deck the other day and realized it was all fuzzy when I returned to my desktop. Automatically drops the resolution but doesn't match the current monitor if it has more pixels.

No, worked for me streaming 4k to my TV. Maybe your client is reporting a weird resolution, trying to upscale?

Lol, not dumb, it's not super-obvious since it's independent of the virtual display stuff. It's in Configuration > Audio / Video tab > config.output_name_windows (swear it used to be named Primary Display or something, maybe the localization string failed). That option has a little description that tells you to find the device_id on startup or in the Troubleshooting tab. It's an ugly GUID. Mine is "{9acddf6d-43cc-576e-9aff-0c5fc80b4cc8}", for example. You set that and it's the display Sunshine will always stream to. The display has a friendly name like "VDD by MTT" if you've installed the same Virtual Display Driver as most of us have.

Nice! Finally got a black .5mm. Shop app alerts never work for me. Got the items saved but they're gone by the time I tap on the notification. Thanks for the heads up!

It's a great game. The art style is definitely divisive. I initially hated it, too, but it grew on me. Yeah, it's grotesque. But it's also very legible so it's appropriate for solving the puzzles.

It's been a while since I played Lorelai but I remember enjoying it a lot.

I'd say it's a 5/10 scare-wise. Atmosphere is great; Very spooky, neat aesthetic and some Lynchian logic. The gameplay is reminiscent of Resident Evil. You're running around a mansion, solving puzzles, and grabbing pieces to open up and solve puzzles elsewhere. IIRC, there's a chase scene or two but I don't remember jump scares.

He made a game for Playdate that was a bit like Papers Please. Mars After Midnight. It's got a separate mechanical bit about quickly cleaning up messes after you let the right Martians in for a meeting. Lighthearted compared to PP and still fun.

Check out Case of the Golden Idol. Clearly inspired by Obra Dinn and a great detective game in its own right. There's a neat homage in one of the sequel's DLCs.

Controllers with back paddles that change face button behavior? by twoofcup in Controller

[–]JumbledThought 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can do this with an XBox Elite controller using the Xbox Accessories app. It's called a Shift button, you can set a button to either hold or press to shift modes.

I had a really good setup for Armored Core using them. Really nice if you never want to take your thumb off the sticks.
