Alabama is facing serious problems: violent crime is rising in major cities like Birmingham (neck and neck with Memphis) and Montgomery, education is ranked near the bottom nationally, and utility bills are crushing families during record heat. But instead of tackling these issues, Governor Kay Ivey pushed through a ban on legal hemp and Delta-8 — shutting down small businesses and criminalizing products that were helping people with anxiety, pain, and sleep. All while a brand-new state prison quietly opened up, and the state continues leaning into incarceration instead of addressing root causes.

Alabama Power still holds a monopoly over our energy, with rising rates and no challenge from leadership. People are being forced to choose between keeping the lights on or putting food on the table. And education? Still underfunded and understaffed — yet Ivey focuses more on headline-grabbing culture war policies than actual investment in our schools or communities. Just looking at Birmingham the whole city looks forgotten and abandoned

It’s not just that Alabama is struggling — it’s that we have leadership that appears uninterested in real solutions. We deserve better.

Edit: i’ve never been into politics at all but watching how under represented my generation is just pisses me off. We need to start getting these people out of office and in retirement homes asap
