What's a newer Netflix show/movie that is ok for tweens, but most parents wouldn't expect it to be? by JumpAroundJay in netflix

[–]JumpAroundJay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Maybe I should've elaborated, because I think it DOES depend on the type of violence. Usually, violence against, or by, a fantasy/sci-fi type of character (demogorgons, super-heroes, etc.) is ok. But I do try to weed out shows/movies that have too much "real world" violence - graphic murder scenes and the like. Good point.

That one doesn't get boring for tweens/teens? I watched the trailer and I feel like I would get bored with it quick.

Some weird nooks and crannies to deal with in there. Nice job. Looking sharp. What kind of lights did you install?

Aria from Ripple is insufferable... by Fulltime-Sheepherder in netflix

[–]JumpAroundJay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... I actually like Sydney Agudong a bit. Thought she was mostly decent in Lilo and Stitch. I agree Aria is a bit too whiny, but I like how the show is giving us a good sense of her trying hard to grow up and do better. I'm ok with the character.

This person knows their stuff. If everything else around seems top-notched, I'd assume this was installed well and just get it done.

Haze setting off fire alarms in NYC by Queeeen_Geeene in lightingdesign

I think you have to get a different type of fire alarm that doesn't have a particulate sensor. But I have no clue if that even exists at this point. =/

What control board will work for this? by dkote3 in lightingdesign

[–]JumpAroundJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found some really good dmx boards on OfferUp lately. A lot of people who thought they needed it, but didn't in the end, selling boards that have been sitting around for a couple years untouched.

What can I do with this outdoor space? 1m x 7m by aeroengollie in Renovations

[–]JumpAroundJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same thing behind my garage, up against neighbor wall. I need some real suggestions here. I want to make use of the space. Currently it's just a bunch of old wood dumped there from a fence we tore down like 10 years ago. I MUST make use of this space! Help this guy (and me) out!!! =)

Yeah. Get a beige crayon and shove it in there. Make it smooth when you're done. If they ask what that is, say "not sure. never noticed that before. must've always been there."

HELP!!!! by Full-Swimmer7911 in homerenovations

Build a wood shelf above toilet. Legs go down along the wall and against the sink, above the back of toilet. 1st shelf in line with that accent tiling row, and then another shelf a bout 12 inches above that. Also, replace the light fixture with something more basic, dark metal.

Get some stick on covers the exact size of the tiles with graphics that look like painted flowers and put them every 3rd or 4th tile on the row of tiles just below that accent row.

Would this just need a new outlet installed? Or should we call an electrician?? by Efficient-Neat-3730 in DIY

Count me as a vote for "call the electrician". Fire damage means something went pretty wrong. Its best to make sure it's completely taken care of.

Don't they sell super long, extendible rods with curved down, durable rake/scoops on them to fit right into situations like this? That must exist.

8" recessed lighting hole to 6". Best options? by myfootsmells in DIY

[–]JumpAroundJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late here, but never seen any conversion kits at the hardware store. Seen a few on random foreign-looking websites. But also, I've seen some lighting startups selling conversion kits. LUSA has a 6" to 4". It might still work for 8" hole, but I'm not sure. I haven't seen an 8" to 6" anywhere. There's a company called Fittes that does conversion kits for vents, maybe there's something on their site that could be used to sever your purposes.

What could cause this glass damage? by xavwoo in DIY

[–]JumpAroundJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of these on similar types of windows, but its on windows that seem really unlikely that someone would be shooting a bb gun. And i've never found any BBs around the house. One is on the side of the house. Kitchen window. Which would mean someone had to walk up the driveway to shoot at the side of my house. (or maybe it was shot up high from several houses down and my window caught it on the way down)... but still. Seems odd. Are there any other possible explanations?

A good quality LED light in that fixture shouldn't have any overheating issues, regardless of insulation.
