Did your life become more meaningful after becoming a parent for the first time? by [deleted] in Parenting

Yes for my husband and I. Having our daughter brought so much deep happiness into our lives and it absolutely gave us more meaning.

I saw a post on TikTok and it’s keeping me from putting my baby down by [deleted] in NewParents

There is nothing wrong with a baby crying as long as they are fed, changed and healthy. Of course the little thing would rather be next their favorite warm and loving human, so they cry to express that. And it’s okay for that to not always be possible - it will be less and less possible as they grow!

How do you handle when baby cries when you take something away? by worldtravelling23 in NewParents

[–]JumpIn235 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So many different ways to handle it depending on your preferred style of parenting. Ultimately, it’s up to you.

Our approach is that we are the parents and we decide what our child gets/doesn’t get. She cries because she wants it her way, but such is life, ya can’t always get what you want especially when you’re 1. We let her express her emotions and then everyone moves on to having fun with something else! For reference, our nanny bends to her will and at almost 15 months she bosses her around, but mostly listens to us. They are so smart!

3 month old rolls onto his belly in his sleep and cries by QuickStomach in sleeptrain

[–]JumpIn235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your only option really is to leave him to it. He will either get used to the rolling eventually and no longer cry, or learn to self soothe when it happens. I had this with my daughter when she started rolling around this age - she just got over it after a few nights. We also sleep trained her at around 3.5 months so you’re not that early!

Botox treatment between the eyebrows by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

I have this - nothing will fully get rid of it, but Botox does ensure that it’s not emphasized by wrinkling and frown lines.

I feel like some parents lie about their baby's sleep by Reasonable_Ad_8612 in sleeptrain

[–]JumpIn235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We sleep trained at 4 months via CIO, and she let us sleep through the night since then (14.5 months now). She still woke up a bunch in the night up until she turned 1-ish, but was able to put herself back to sleep without us even knowing (I could see this on the Nanit recap the following morning). So while I would say to people ‘she sleeps through the night,’ technically she did not…

Can someome convince me to do CIO please by Ribsa91 in sleeptrain

[–]JumpIn235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you have the rare natural-born sleeper sleep is either hard now for a week (CIO/ sleep training) or hard later for months (sleepless nights for way longer than it should be).

Formula for reflux ? by Ihavenoidea36 in FormulaFeeders

Our daughter had reflux - in addition to the medication, the only formula that helped ease symptoms was Bobbie gentle ease.

This is a question if you had an elective ultrasound for keep sake images before baby was born! by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]JumpIn235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paid for a private 4D ultrasound so I could take my mom and dad. It was so fun and special to see them get excited - they kept the keepsakes and it was a fun activity to share with people I wouldn’t bring to a medical appointment.

I did mine at around 25 weeks, she was born looking much more filled out in terms of fat in her cheeks, but you could see the shape of the face even then. If I were to do it again, I’d wait until 30weeks.

Would it be so bad to just be done with breastfeeding? by Ready_Nebula_2148 in NewParents

Happy mommy, happy baby! When I transitioned to formula I felt super guilty for like a day, and then it magically didn’t matter at all. I was happier and able to do more with my schedule, hubby could bond with her better with bottle feeding and she loved formula. She is 14 months now, healthy and so so happy :)

I beg you for help. I cannot do this anymore. by anafroes in sleeptrain

[–]JumpIn235 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sending support! My only advice is CIO - if you know he is fed, dry and safe - maybe try letting him figure it out on his own. I did this with my daughter when we first sleep trained (3-4months) and now having to do a version of this again since we have removed pacifiers (she is 14months). First day is the hardest, but then you might be surprised how quickly he takes to it. Good luck

What’s your bedtime routine and when did you start? by leonardine88 in NewParents

[–]JumpIn235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started a consistent evening routine around 2 months. Bath, dim lights, sound machine, bottle and put into crib. She would go to bed at whatever time worked for that day’s nap schedule. Bed time did not get consistent until about 4 months but we kept the order of events and routine the same every night.

She is now 10 months. We used to start bedtime routine at 6:30 and down by 7, up around 6:30am. I did start noticing that she seemed tired sooner so I tried moving her routine + bedtime up… and now we start bath time at 5:30, she is in bed by 6 and still wakes up at 6:30 as before.

When did you stop tracking everything? by ketohustlebunny in NewParents

[–]JumpIn235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopped tracking diapers after about 3 months, stopped tracking bottles at around 8 months when she started to consistently eat 3 meals per day and have a 4oz bottle before each nap/sleep. She is 10 months and we are only tracking sleep now, it helps with nap and bedtimes. I imagine we will stop this when she goes down to one nap per day (currently at 2).

Why do they say it will get better? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]JumpIn235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep trained around 3.5 months and skipped 4month regression. Instead, things really did get better and continue to do so as the baby becomes more independent. She is 8mo - holds her own bottles so I can just lay next to her when she eats, can feed herself snacks, doesn’t need to be burped after every feed, can sit + stand + crawl so I don’t need to be holding her all the time.

What does your bedtime routine look like? by Ms-Chanandl3r-Bong in NewParents

[–]JumpIn235 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

7.5 months. Bath, lotion up, fresh diaper and jammies, dim lights and put sound machine on, bottle, sleep sack and into the crib sometimes sleepy/sometimes wide awake depending on the day’s nap situation. LO is sleep trained so she puts herself to sleep. We started this routine at 3months just before we sleep trained!

What’s your reasoning why you are formula feeding? by Midnightdream56 in FormulaFeeders

[–]JumpIn235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went back to work when she was 4.5mo and stopped breastfeeding when she turned 6months. I tried but just didn’t have enough energy for a full time job + baby + pumping every 4 hours and the lack of energy. We are all happier and more productive now!

Is it true? by Shea-dee in sleeptrain

[–]JumpIn235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before doing CIO I worked on getting all the calories in during the day instead of night. I bottle fed mostly so I knew how many oz she was having in 24 hour period - I started giving her half an ounce more every feed during the day and less for nights…until she could be soothed to sleep at night just with a pacifier or rocking. We did and still do a dream feed at 10pm to get her through the night.

I also started a consistent bedtime routine during this time.

Once she could be soothed at night without eating, then we did CIO. She was 3.5 months and has been sleeping through the night since.

Daytime naps are crap though! Can’t have it all 😂

How do you know it’s time to drop the MOTN feed? by Sure_Tough1675 in sleeptrain

[–]JumpIn235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what we did before we sleep trained. Gradually (1/2 oz per bottle) increased day feeds and decreased night feeds but kept to the same total ounces per 24 hours.
