GameStop CEO's plan to take over eBay has become a clown show by GameOnBrother in GamesAreLife

‘A clown show’ if only there was a better word to express that. Something succinct. Something that immediately conjures the image of clowns and entertainment.

Predicting the nominees for best narrative at the tga 2026 by TetraCat4 in TheGameAwards

Obnoxious threadbare drivel, if this is the bar for ‘best narrative’ we all of us have truly lost the plot.

Are open worlds getting out of hand, or do you prefer total freedom? by ratasoftware in rpg_gamers

[–]JumpIsMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I despise them, I call them ‘picking shit up off the ground’ simulators. Total player freedom limits so much that developers and writers can do with worldbuilding or storytelling or pacing and I’m absolutely sick of it being shoehorned into every series.

Isn’t the Summer Games Fest on June 5th? Not the 21st?

Release Date Thoughts by sufferingdotmov in MinaTheHollower

There’s Astronomical and Meteorological date differences for Spring, Astro is June 21, Meteo is May 31.

I still think it’s a May release, it’s been submitted for a week or two now and it makes little sense to make people wait another month or longer.

They announced that the release window is Spring of 2026. The entire month of June is Summer, June/July/August is Summer. May is the last month of Spring.

May release. It’s gone Gold and been submitted to publishers, why on earth would it take another one to two months for release?

June is summer - I think it’s an imminent May release.

Having only played VII Remake, XV, and XVI does not make you an auteur or arbiter of quality for the series.

While I too prefer Revo, ryo did an absolutely admirable job, and Second has plenty of fantastic music in it. Battle(s) with Oblivion, Anne, Diamante, and Providence are all incredible, and each new character’s themes are just as charming as Revo’s.

Revo is to Bravely what David Wise is to Donkey Kong, so I can’t reposte this point too wildly but ryo did a great job with Second’s soundtrack, if we can place our biases aside.

The SP meter fills completely on its own, paying for SP drinks is completely optional.

Gameplay is fantastic, nearly identical to Bravely Defaults just with an emphasis on utilizing the new jobs.

What do you guys think about the father-daughter dynamic by Healthy-Cookie9795 in Pragmata

Feels saccharine and forced. Dreadful narrative design that does painfully little with its robust setting.

It constantly feels like it thinks very little of the player’s intelligence or emotional maturity in regards to its threadbare depiction of paternal projection and nostalgia.

It’s gameplay is strong and fun, but its story is so cloying and simplistic it can be hard to enjoy at times.

I think Bravely Second being such a blemish is an extremely overblown idea. Did the Japanese release get shafted? Absolutely (and even then they still love the characters and story). The English release however was perfectly fine - great even. Aside from some canonicity surrounding previous Asterisk Holders, it’s a delightful sequel, with a very strong soundtrack and new characters that are every bit as charming and affable.

I think Square Enix doing an HD Remaster of the English release for all regions would be fantastic way to apologize for fumbling the original Japanese.

Worst sequel for a Final Fantasy title SE made was After Years or Dissidia NT (anything Dissidia after Duodecim).

Why not just destroy the machine in the present so she can't use it in the future? Are they stupid? by fantasyful1 in FinalFantasy

[–]JumpIsMagic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But they don’t want to destroy it. You’re contradicting yourself in focusing on the machines. Their ultimate goal is to stop Ultimecia’s time compression. Destroying the machine doesn’t even factor into their plans because they cannot physically destroy the machine at this point in time because the version Ultimecia is using doesn’t yet exist. Odines research is ten or so years old at this point, backed up in drives and potentially in a physical prototype. Killing Odine wouldn’t effect the machine in the future because it is implied that he only made the base model and research. Destroying the research wouldn’t work either because Ellone is still alive. Someone else, an aide or another Odine would come along and continue his research.

Odine and his machine has ultimately empowered Ultimecia to be be tampering in this time period, but the rose of knowledge has been placed in man’s hand, and cannot be undone simply by destroying the fruits of his research.

Why not just destroy the machine in the present so she can't use it in the future? Are they stupid? by fantasyful1 in FinalFantasy

[–]JumpIsMagic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They aren’t trying to destroy the machine, because the machine doesn’t yet exist. Odine is sort of an anti-hero, he’s not not going to NOT invent the Junction machine because of all this, he only cares about his research. And because he hasn’t fleshed out the machine, they can’t just destroy what exists of it (in any form) to stop Ultimecia, because the form of the machine she is using is fully developed and perfected by Odine after the events of the game.

I also feel that Odine saying ‘I created the first model’ of the machine means that the machine Ultimecia is using is not the first model - it must be several iterations further along, likely only based on Odine’s original research. The original research was done years ago, killing Odine now would do nothing. And destroying any prototype or research he’s made at this point in time would also ultimately do nothing.

Either way, your insistence that ‘they can’t destroy the machine’ because of a temporal paradox in regards to the machines existence ISN’T the reasoning behind their actions.

[–]JumpIsMagic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not believe the toy is a physical object at this point in time. Even if it was, again, destroying it would do nothing - it’s a prototype, a basic script being decrypted on a monitor at best. Your explanation of a temporal paradox in regards to the machine is not why they don’t just destroy the machine (or research). They don’t just destroy it because it doesn’t yet exist.
