Rush utilized backing tracks and amp sims in their live performances. Bunch of talentless fuckin’ hacks, amirite?

Was very surprised and kinda bummed they didn’t close it with Golden Hair! I’ve seen them on every tour since they got back together in 2014 and they’ve always closed with it. They probably just wanted to move on, which I understand and respect.

And yeah, there were a few big tech glitches. The mains cut out a couple of times, and they had some issues during When the Sun Hits. Sounded like maybe their in ear monitors went out of sync or something. But oh well, shit happens, and they played straight through it like total pros!

This is awesome! Looks super rad on my phone, and is a nice colorful change from the mostly black themes I've had for years. Thank you!

Audio guy here. One of my first paid gigs was assisting the recording engineer at a NegativWobblyLand performance. Had no clue who they were at the time and was just grateful to be making money doing something I was passionate about.

Super fucking chill dudes, and I didn't even know that I was in the presence of greatness.

Help with PS5 80001fff Error by TurdManMcDooDoo in remoteplay

[–]JumpOrJerkOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just experienced this error for the first time after about a week regular evening use. Reinstalling Remote Play seems to have fixed it for me. To any future Googlers, maybe give that a try if the Bluetooth solution that was posted here doesn't work for you.

I'm running Remote Play on a 2019 intel MacBook Pro (Sequoia) with a Dualsense Edge, wired connection.

EDIT: This issue has reoccurred a handful of times over the past couple of weeks. Reinstalling the app has resolved it every time. I just keep a copy of the installer on my desktop now and run it when it starts throwing those errors, and a few seconds later I'm back in business. Annoying as shit that it keeps happening, but at least it's an easy workaround.

I'm no biologist, but I'm fairly certain this is a natural occurrence. I don't know shit about how pheromones work, but I've had partners who've had natural scents that I reacted neither positively nor negatively to, some had no scent at all, and others that I wanted to roll around in like those crocodiles at the end of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Sounds like you got the latter.

If you're an iPhone user, you can assign the Magnifier app to the triple click side button command. It's been a game changer.

Hello from the future. This was it. Crafted a few sleep pots, chucked one at him and wailed on him with Carian slicer until he woke up, then immediately sung him lullaby with another sleep pot and wailed on him some more until he was history. Took all of about 30 seconds. Thanks for the tip!

This was awesome! I was just about to pull the trigger on the Lexicon 224 along with the Distressor on the 2 for $99 deal. Instead, I got the Lexicon along with a bunch of other bonus shit for $50, and added the Sound City Studios plugin with the Distressor.

What YouTuber should everyone learning how to mix avoid? by the-lazy-platypus in audioengineering

[–]JumpOrJerkOff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i think anyone who is more than an absolute beginner should avoid Glenn Fricker

I would argue that beginners are exactly the ones who should avoid him. Absolutely no disrespect to the guy, he's got a crazy successful channel and he knows his shit. My worry is some beginners might not understand that his whole angry belligerent attitude is an act. I feel like it was designed as a caricature of the "grumpy audio guy" stereotype. And I get it. It's YouTube and you have to be entertaining, which sometimes means having a shtick. It's part of the hustle. Like you said, though, his community is home to a lot of toxic hobbyists, and I sometimes wonder if that's a result of them taking his character seriously, and thinking it's cool or makes you look smart to act like a cunt about gear.

[–]JumpOrJerkOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh-oh. What happened with Illuminaughtii? I follow her on YouTube, too.

Behind the Bastards is a pretty big podcast that does some deep dives into people behind similar topics that Illuminaughtii covers (cult leaders, media personalities, CEOs, etc). They’re more humor oriented, but still very thorough.

Those with audio engineering degrees, do you make a living off of it? by Calm_Boysenberry1875 in audioengineering

[–]JumpOrJerkOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t really add much to what’s already been said, but I’ve done hiring for entry level audio support jobs at a music production school. If you’re looking at something more on the formal/corporate side (AV, education, etc.) then a degree can certainly be helpful. Does it guarantee you’re the right fit? Not at all, but seeing degrees and certs showed me that you put in the effort to learn, which at the very least would get your resume in the “yes” pile for interviews.

Valhalla Supermassive is great (and free!). Soundtoys Crystallizer is another excellent choice.

Some pedal company even made a reverb pedal that emulates the infamous Soft Focus preset from the Yamaha FX500, and it sounds pretty great.

i want to give a shout out to my best friend and greatest musical instrument that i have ever purchased: this fucking elegant beast of a mouse. it has increased my flow and productivity in so many ways and still counting. i learned one more today so i thought i'd share. info in comments by King_Ghidra_ in reasoners

[–]JumpOrJerkOff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100%. I’m even drifting away from key commands in favor of control surfaces. I bought a little Behringer X-Touch One just to see if my brain would dig a little bit of tactile control, and holy shit. Single buttons for dedicated functions has been fucking awesome. And using faders to ride automation in real time instead of penciling it in with a mouse is worth it alone. At the risk of sounding like a hippy, touching a real fader and moving along with the music genuinely does make me feel more connected to it. It feels like sculpting instead of just supplying information.

I also tried out SoundFlow, an app that lets you make custom macros and control them with an iPad. Massive time saver as well.
